That's gonna be tricky since I'd have to move the entire wall mount up. Right now it's not as bas as it looks. Because the bottom bevel is so thick I only end up losing about a 1/2" of the bottom of the screen. I'm gonna wait to see if I'm going to need to move this summer before I start moving things around.

Spent a little time with the EQ's today. Didn't get around to the single 18", but this is the DO. Green is the rear driver and black is the front driver........I think. Or vice versa. No smoothing, from the LP.

How does that new center sound? Thing is freaking huge, man! I'm just wondering if you think the performance justifies the size.

Btw, don't get me wrong...that's pretty awesome. :D I'd say someone is overcompensating, but you normally get small speakers. Oh, wait... :p

It is freaking huge. I'm still trying to figure out a way to incorporate the pedestal. I have some leftover Maple board that I think I can make a little stand out of and place the whole thing on the floor, but we'll see. I keep saying it, but I gotta finish the sub first. Although I may work on the stand in between drying time on the Bondo/primer, because if I get the thing on the floor then I can finally drop the PJ screen all the way down and get the full 92" diagonal.

That's a good question. I hesitate to compare it to any of the other center channels I've had, except the single driver because it's now been awhile since I've heard any of them. However, I will say that in my limited time listening to it so far it sounds really good. Does it sound better than the Salk center and RAAL tweeter? Ehhhh I don't know. Definitely not night and day. However, where this new center supposedly dominates most other centers is in output capability while retaining composure without getting shouty or distorting in addition to the very wide listening area (great horizontal and vertical off axis response).

The main issue I'm having so far is that I'm having a hard time telling is it blends seamlessly with the front L/R and/or melts into the background so to speak. It's so big that I have a hard time filtering it out of the equation even when I close my eyes.

Is the price/size justified for my present space? Probably not. Is it a center that I can keep for a long time, that will fill just about any room I can put it in, and one that I can build an HT around when I get the space? Yup. Would I have been happy with anything less? Nope. So was it worth it? For me, definitely :D

Well I appreciate the sentiment :D That was actually the first thing my GF said when she saw it, but I don't think she meant it in the same you did  :(

She finally realized, huge center channel or huge engagement ring. :D
She wasn't too crazy when I pulled that huge center out of my truck, that's for sure. I don't think his GF likes me at all, but can you blame her?

You need a really big house now, with a big room. That center is at the opposite end of the spectrum from a single 4"driver! I would think you would have to get a long way from that speaker for it to sound coherent. In Minnesota speak, I think we would say "it must have a different type of lobing pattern!"

It should not lack for power though. Seriously though it looks impressive, however it is an approach far away from what my researches suggest is in ideal center.

It sure is the opposite end of the spectrum. However, I wanted to try something new. I've tried MTM, WTMW, the full range driver, and a vertical bookshelf. This is something new and interesting. I'm not sure if it makes a difference in your opinion of the thing, but it doesn't have the tweeters/mids wired in series parallel and then simply crossed to each other (unless I'm misunderstanding what this thing is). It's a Bessel array. While I've read Keele's paper on Bessel arrays, I don't pretend to understand all of it or how it exactly translates into what I've got. So far I've only really watched TV with it, but this weekend I should be able to give it a better workout to really get a feel for it.

This time. He's given me his no holds barred opinion before, and more often than not I'm better off for it :D

The center, with 1/12 smoothing. Red is with Audyssey Flat, and the Blue is without from the LP.
