Favorite music related movies

My two favorites are not musicals but are movies carried by the music and that would be O Brother Where Are Thou and Inside Llewyn Davis.

+1 on O Brother. Dang, it is a good movie and good soundtrack too! I have the clear vinyl double-LP too. Allison Kraus, on a hi-fi system is just amazing! This is one of the few movies that just seems to bridge the generation gap too.

As much as I hate to admit it, Pitch Perfect was OK too. For all the crap the spouse makes me watch, it is one of the more tolerable/entertaining.

My top 3 already have been mentioned, but it's worth to remind if some still hasn't seen them
1: The Blues Brothers.
2: Pink Floyd the Wall.
3: Sweeney Todd

O Brother is definitely a favorite.
SBF1 mentioned Immortal Beloved - one of my all time favorite films, irrespective of the music.
The Commitments was also an excellent movie mentioned in the 10yr old OP
Ray was pretty good I thought. Jamie Fox did a pretty good job IMO.
Dreamgirls with Jennifer Hudson was amazing.

Have to say I enjoyed The Runaways with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

Sweeny Todd I liked, but wouldn't call it an all time favorite. I do own it though.
