Hi Audioholics I would like to say that first of all I am a huge fan of all the news and videos about Hifi you share with us I have a question that I hope you can help me with.
I have been going around in a long time to find a new subwoofer for my surround setup in my living room, right now I have a paradigm seismic 110 together with paradigm studio 100 front speakers cc-490 center and s20 on J29 stands for the surround all in the V5 series and I'm really happy how it sounds but I would like to have a better sub because I feel the seismic 110 doesn't give power enough when I watch movies.
Long story short
My question is.... what sub would you choose between these two?
Velodyne dd12+
JL audio f112v2
I have got a good price on both from the two shops that sells each subs
I just have a problem I can't hear them because I leave in Denmark and they don't want to get the subs to the shop so I can hear them at home so it is a chance I take in buying one of them the reason why I have chosen them is because those subs have the perfect size and they can be placed were it sounds best when I do the crawl test and also would look best in my living room with all the furnitures and so on my living room is around 35m2 with 2.3m in height and build in a normal brick house with concrete walls.
I hope that you can help me maybe with pros and cons and why I should choose that sub instead of the other.

Best regards
A huge fan and I keep listening

I'd look at XTZ 3x12 which should be better than both. If size is a factor out of the two I'd take the jl

Hi EverettT I have been looking at the XTZ 3x12" unfortunately the size matters even the XTZ is cheaper but it wouldn't fit in my living room between my furnitures :( but if I would have a basement or just a big room where i could build a home Cinema then there would be standing at least one XTZ 3x12" no doubt :);)

Both look to be good subs. I would probably lean to the JL Audio sub because I would guess they have a higher displacement driver. They may be able to move a bit more air.

The Velodyne DD12+ is very expensive for the performance you get, but the dealers I've talked to (including the one I bought my DD18+ from) say the Velodyne DD+ series has been very reliable. I'm not familiar with the market in Denmark, but in the USA the resale values for Velodynes are very high. Though I bought my DD18+ in 2010, I could sell it now for 90% of what I paid for it, which is extraordinary (and completely illogical). The JL's are also good, but similarly high-priced. If these are your only two choices, I'd recommend the Velodyne. If there are Internet Direct manufacturers that ship to Denmark, like SVS, I'd look at those too.

That's also what I am guessing :)

The problem is when you order to denmark it is very certain there will be tax and vat the Price in denmark I can get the F112V2 for $4788,- (normal Price in denmark $6370) and the velodyne dd12+ for $4478,- (normal Price in denmark $5484,-) it's pretty expencive to buy Highend in denmark.

That is very expensive, about $1,000USD higher than in the USA for both. The F112v2 looks like a more recent design. If you're planning to use the automatic room equalization, Velodyne's is terrible; you need to do it manually with a separate measuring system for best results. The JL Audio's might be better (I doubt it will be worse). I think it really comes down to your personal preference, perhaps only which one you like the looks of better.
