If our government went after the banks as hard as they are going after Trump... This is where I'm upset.

Again how many people were financially ruined when it come to the 2008 banking meltdown vs Trump.

I get it that the guy is a titanium asshole. I really do... And guess what? Our voting system worked. He's no longer in office. The vote wasn't stolen and neither is it being 'suppressed'.

We've really got bigger fish to fry folks.
Definitely white collar crime needs to be investigated more. Glad there's more IRS activity now. Of course drumphy did loosen up on the banks along with his republican friends....

How many tens of thousands of Americans died needlessly of COVID because Trump was elected President? Had it been known before the 2016 election that he was f*cking a porn star four months after his wife gave birth, the election might very well have ended differently. Paying hush money in itself is not a crime (depending how it’s done, of course) but as he was running for elected office so campaign finance laws applied/applies to him. And here we are.

Not a big fan of financial de-reg either. Now we have banks collapsing again but not the way it was 15 years ago.

My over/under is that we really do have more pressing matters for government to attend to.

Sometimes you take what you can get. I think its important to throw a criminal like drumph in jail where he belongs, even if it takes many different trials in various locations. The republicans have been particularly bad about not making progress for many years now.

If you seriously believe that if Trump hadn't waded into politics that he would still be in this same spot he now finds himself, that I find dubious at best.
That’s sort of the point: When running for elected office you’ll have to abide by the campaign finance laws.

To make an example: If you never drive a car you won’t get a speeding ticket.

Trumps denialism about the severity of the virus was a problem for sure. But that's not illegal. It's a policy failure.

Who was that President before Trump boffing interns that the White House? I wonder if he had a predilection before he ran for office also?

We don't know that at this point but we'll find out.

One thing I learned a long time ago is the U.S. is basically a rat ship. Virtually everyone, especially those with vast resources have dirt under their fingernails. If you go around painting a bulls eye on yourself, eventually folks will come find the dirt.

Seriously, I have no life.
As you know I am on the right of the political spectrum, but I want to see Trump behind bars. This New York case is a distraction, and I wish they had been patient to let the more serious Federal and Georgia cases play out.

We all know Trump has a well oiled fly. So we expect him to try and bed any floozy he fancies. At the worst this case will bring some sort of fine and censure. Even then it seems the DA is tying himself in knots trying to elevate this to a felony.

On the other hand we have all heard up Trump trying to pervert the Georgia vote. That has been all over the airwaves for months. So that should be winnable.

The Federal obstruction of justice charge is the most serious, and likely to result in a conviction and sentence that will put him away for life. I just hope these charges can be brought soon, so this is all tied up by the next election.

I do think this needs to move forward, as this festering sore becomes more likely to result in serious civil unrest.

Lastly I am surprised these Republican senators and congress representatives are too dumb to understand their support of this rascal Trump, will likely prove career ending for them ultimately. Same goes for Republican challengers to Trump. Not condemning the twerp, and putting maximum distance between them and him, is likely to end up being a loosing strategy.

Not quite the same, no hush money was involved with dubious record keeping. ;)
And, he paid the price of impeachment and embarrassment of family.
Trump is paying for how he paid, not the affair.

I would disagree with not being illegal to hide the severity of COVID especially when he knew it as he was recorded on record how much he knew and how early.
Dereliction of duty that caused countless human lives. That alone should have been an impeachment.

Yes but. They are up against the clock of statute of limitation as it happened well before all the other criminal activity that he is charged with.

I rather think of the New York case as a feint instead of an unwanted distraction. In June 1944 Hitler thought the Normandy invasion was a feint, and he waited for a subsequent invasion of Calais that never happened. It didn't matter which invasion was real or a feint, as long as Hitler hesitated.

Let all four cases loose on Trump at once: 1) the New York case; 2) the attempt at tampering with the Georgia election results; 3) the Federal case of the Jan 6 attempted violent insurrection at the Capitol; and 4) the Mar-a-Lago classified document theft, violation of the espionage act, & subsequent obstruction. Trump won't know which one to obstruct first. He might be able to dodge one, but he can't successfully dodge all four at once – especially if he gets overwhelmed, distracted, or hesitant.

It would be wrong to let him off on any of these charges. In 1974, shortly after Nixon fled the White House in disgrace, Gerald Ford was wrong to let him off the hook by an unprecedented pardon in advance of an indictment or conviction. That allowed Nixon to later claim that he was never guilty of anything related to Watergate, despite the overwhelming evidence against him. That disastrous error allowed Trump to falsely proclaim that no president could be charged or found guilty of criminal charges.

Trump has made his intentions absolutely clear that he will ignore the Constitution whenever it suits him. It's time to drop the kid gloves and go for the jugular. It's time to use overwhelming force to convict Trump and send him away in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs.

I do not think I did not know will be enough to get him out of creating a insurrection, or having classified documents at his residence...especially since it has recently come out that he had one of his aides upload them all to the cloud prior to the raid, and then download them again after the raid.
Planned an insurrection vs knew it might get violent are different things. That's why I think it's the latter and trying to prove it is more difficult. To me that falls under dereliction of duty. Trump's comments like "they should have hanged Pence" or "I hear it could get violent" etc echo that IMO. Stop the Steal and the rally on the day. Then saying be "peaceful" before going to the Capitol given Trump's temperament I don't believe. Plus Trump knew who is audience was: the alt-right.

In the end though difficult to prove.

Documents I didn't know he put in a cloud LOL. Thought it was just boxes.
