Energy V10

Hi.
I'm a home audio / home theater newbie. I just got myself these set up: onkyo tx sr308 receiver, Energy RC10 as front left & right speakers, Energy RC Mini Center, and a pair of Energy RC Mini bookshelf as surround speakers.
For the subwoofer, I was about to buy Energy ESW V10. But the shop let me borrow it for a few days to try.
Well I tried it, most of the time for music (stereo listening plus the sub). I like it that it blends really well with the RC10. However I find it not loud at all. At moderate volume, I think the sub doesn't produce loud enough bass. I set the crossover at 60 Hz (I've also tried higher) at the receiver. On the sub, I set the switch at bypass position. Phase at -180 degrees. Gain/Volume at three quarters. Sub Placement in a corner. My room is 13 x 21 (3.75m x 6.4m). I compare the sub to my old REL Strata subwoofer in another room, and the REL is much louder. Do I set the V10 up incorrectly?
For some of you who has used Evergy V10, how do you find the sub's performance, especially for music? At the moment I'm also considering SVS or Hsu research subs. But there's no dealer in the country where I live. So if I do order those subs, I'd have no prior try out.
Thanks.
