What if any 1080p gear do you own? Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment? If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?

None, no, and no.

No, but I haven't been able to control settings to ensure comparability.

If it is a fairly recent purchase of an 1080i/720P hi-def tv, no. If it were something cheaper like a DVD player, probably yes.

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?
The 1080p content that I have seen is very good and a noticeable improvement over 480p, assuming good transfers for each format. I would say there is much less of an improvement over 720p/1080i

I don't own any 1080p gear.

When I get a front projector with 1080p ,I'm think I will see the difference.

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?

I haven't had a chance to compare them yet.

None...yet.

Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment?

No. I'm still on a SD CRT. But it is a big draw for HD-DVD.

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?

I've seen it in the stores only, hard to judge.

Maybe when the price comes down.

Have not had a sufficient demo.

What if any 1080p gear do you own? I guess you could say the 360 since some of the games can do 1080p

Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment? Not at all, none of the broadcast stuff goes above 1080p. Now if I was getting a huge screen I would go with a 1080p.

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i? Nope, not really.

The only 1080p equipment I own is a Playstation 3. I own a 1080i DLP which I have no plans to replace. I have not seen a 1080p display.

Maybe a little, but until I see it in my HT, I am reserving judgement.

I don't own any 1080p gear, I will just be installing a 729p HDTV with HDMI/DVI cables.

1080p alone would not be enough reason to re-invest that amount of money given that I already have 720p.
If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?
I've seen and spent a considerable amount of time watching a 60" 1080p Sony TV. However, I have not had, with the exception of store dispays, the luxury of having both for an A-B comparison in my own home. Given that my vewing distance for the 42" 720p will be about 8', with the exception of screen size, the resolution at that distance may be at the limit of my vision

I don't own any 1080p gear.

-Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment?
No, not yet. I am interested in the HD audio more, where the "format war" is settled, I'll adjust my plans for upgrading equipment

-If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?
Yes, but not that much (1080p v. 1080i)

An Oppo 981 and a Sharp Aquos 52". I would consider upgrading in time, but there's no current rush so waiting for prices to fall is just fine. Not enough use for 1080p, yet. I've not done a side-by-side comparison, but I've seen the difference enough to know it's there. Definitely not a "can't live without it" difference for me.

Samsung LN-S4096D LCD HDTV
Oppo DV981HD DVD universal player
Macintosh computer as a DVR/media/game computer

Overtime upgrading to 1080p pieces is in the plan.

Have not seen enough 1080p content to notice at present. Will wait until Blu-ray drops in price. But got the 1080p TV now because we are using the Mac as the DVR and game machine.
