Hi Dasanii,

Congrats on your purchase.

I am thinking about buying the same system you had just purchased to replace my boston vr975s. It seems like a good value for $799 a Speaker, but there is only one review out there on these. Majority of my usage with these speakers would be music and I feel these speakers will do well in this category.

Just curious to know what your feelings are now that you have owned them for a little.

Are you happy so far for your purchase?
Figured I could chime in since I own them as well... I am much happier with these speakers than my old klipsch.. You can see my comments on them a few posts back. Their finish is also amazing... Overall very happy with the purchase! Let me know if you have any specific questions, would be more than happy to answer them!

I hope there will be more Energy Verita owners out there soon. Not many reviews on these speakers.
Great looking, clean setup! YOu beat me to the pics... I will get them up ASAP once I get some time...

Im loving the Veritas so far, they are very clear! I watch a lot of movies and I never seem to "strain" trying to hear the dialog, the front sound stage seems to produce much "depth". I am also quite pleased as far as music goes, they really sound great, again very clear and just seem to have the right amount of sound spectrum one would expect out of Energy's flagship speaker . I have been listening to a lot of Sade, The doors, Pink Floyd and for bass function, E-40 :) Im known for returning things I don't like, whether it be an item that is a couple hundred pounds and not so convenient and or 1 lb and still not so convenient, basically what im trying to say is that these are keepers and its not because they are a pain in the butt to return. :)

So may be Klipsch didn't kill that line after all. It would have been a shame. 7 years later I am still enjoying my 2.3i and have no plan to trade them in for anything any time soon. They also still look brand new and that tell you something about their quality and workmanship.

Ok, so I guess my surrounds were mounted to high. I have now upgraded from the Polk owm3's to the Veritas VS. Before I finish everything up, please give me your thoughts on my new location of my VS surrounds. Im right at about 2' from ear level to the center of the mid driver now. Am I in the ball park now? I just want to get it right, ive only remounted one so far so please let me know if I should adjust anything.

Before

After (im moving that shelf out and also upgrading from my epik empire to the SVS PB13 Ultra)

So what do you think of the Veritas V-S surrounds?

Dasanii19,

I was looking to get your thoughts on the V-S surrounds. I received them about a week ago. While in the testing stage, I put the on ladders, about 2 feet in front of the back wall where they will eventuallygo. One is about 4.5 ft high and the other is about 5.25 feet high now. I think that they sound pretty good, in the bipole mode. It's kind of hard to find the right movie to really hear the effects. (I tried Tron:Legacy; Master and Commander; There Will Be Blood; and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.) The effects are usually subtle except for a few cases when something noisy moves from front to back.

When I mount them on the wall one will need to go above a 7 foot high door molding so they will be about 7.5 feet high. Not ideal. I don't think that I could tilt them down much. Maybe a surround like the Axiom with a bottom and top facing woofer would be better. Then again, the woofer is not that directional.

Thanks.

Anyone else have thoughts?

Hey guys,

Just curious if anyone bit the bullet and took advantage of the deals available on these speakers? Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on these.... I have been enjoying these for about 3 months now and my klipsch are officially up on Craigslist... Next purchase is hopefully an demotivated amp to really take advantage of the veritas!

After reading your review, that of Audioholics, and another person whose name I do not remember (but he has a Youtube video review the Veritas 5.1 and 6.3), I figured I could never match this price on quality items and bought 4 of the Veritas 5.1s, the Veritas 10"subwoofer, and the 5.2 (?) Veritas center channel speaker.

Since I am planning to move soon, I have no hooked up my equipment, but have taken speakers out of the boxes and it is fun to fondle them, they are exquisite and I think the price makes them a steal. Also, I have been in email contact with Energy/Klipsch staff and they have been very helpful and responsive.

For what it is worth, a Mr. Land with Energy/Klipsch told me to play the speakers at a 'background music' level for a week or two to break them in. Don't know if I can wait that long, but I could hang for a 50 hour break-in.

Man, I do think my Rosenut speakers are beautiful and if I am as pleased as the two pro reviewers that I mentioned, I will be more than happy.:) P.S., it is all I can do to keep myself from not buying the Veritas 6.3s (a pair) because I may never get such a deal like this again...

That is exactly what I did - background music type levels for the first 50 hours or so... Not too sure about the whole speaker break in idea, but I definitely did not want to risk damaging my drivers by driving them too loudly per manufacturer's recommendations. Glad you are enjoying at least the finish of the cabinets for now.

What are you planning on driving them with?

Pioneer

There was a sale on a while back and I snagged a Pioneer VSX 1021K for $299, which was a pretty good price. Like the speakers, it is still in the box awaiting the move.:)

Sounds like you picked up a few really good deals! I have heard good things about that Pioneer, please do come back with impressions when you get everything hooked up!

Vann's

Out of curiosity, I checked out Vann's website and there are now a goodly number of reviews of the Energy Veritas speakers and they are quite well-received and rated by their owners (and since my review is there and is real, I would think that the others are also), so no doubt there are better speakers out there, the bang for the buck and customer satisfaction for Energy Veritas sounds and looks good. :)

Energy Veritas

Even though my response is not timely, I thought others might appreciate another review of the latest Energy Veritas line.

Energy speakers have been a mainstay in Canada since the late 70s. The Veritas line is highly respected by many an audiophile. The company never really did a competent job of promoting the line in other countries and as a result is now in the hands of Audiovox...I do not profess to be an expert, however, I have been in the company of, and owned, some of the most transparent speakers over the past 30 years...yes I am that old. Remember, that with age comes wisdom...and so does dementia but I digress.

The latest Veritas, at first glace, did not appear to be designed with such attention to sound replication detail as the last line of veritas v2.4. However, I was impressed with the finish (which I consider the best veritas yet) so I decided to audition them. There is a very strong agruement put forth that suggests a 'breakin period' is absolutely necessary to get the true full range from this new line and I agree. This is true of many lines of speakers.

After about 50+ hours of easy listening, these speaker come into their own. The detail and soundstage is excellent. The low end is just ok but does get noticable better with continous use. Ultimately, low end is the role of the subwoofer. Other brands of this size and in this price range have better bass response but few satisfy the other sound requirements as well as the Veritas line. The fit and finish is just marvilous. With the grills off these speakers look the part...sorta like Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry.(I said I was old.) There is one point I agree with other critics. The msrp put these speaker in tough with other respected manufactures...Parad, bw, pbs, ma, etc. However, with all do respect, the Veritas hold their own. It is sometimes hard to break ranks with the 'old boys club'.

In many respects, sound experiece is subjective and to each his own. At the price point that the Veritas has been selling in the US, its a steal of a deal...the downside is that the veritas is an endangered species in the American marketplace. Promotion, or lack there of, a crowded market place and a slumping economy may have taken its toll???

Just to summarize...I enjoy the Veritas and I think you might too!

I rarely post here, but your post inspired me

I bought the Veritas 5.1 bookshelf speakers after the glowing review here at Audioholics and I have been very pleased and impressed with them, plus as you mentioned, the finish is marvelous.

With the deals Vann's was offering, I snagged a pair of Veritas 6.2s to go with my Veritas 5.2 center channel speaker and another pair of 5.1s acting as back speakers. I just finished the break-in period recommended by the Energy/Klipsch rep. and am very pleased by the 6.2s (the 6.3s were out of my budget, should have bought them when they were less than $700 at Vann's...) No doubt there are many 'better' speakers but I have enjoyed these in sound an looks immensely. And I should note, that I have not detected any particular 'brightness' in the tweeters in playing all kinds of music. Previously, I had sets of MB Quart and Focal tweeters removed from cars because I could not stand their shrill sound, so I don't like bright speakers.

Like the above poster, I am old and it is possible that my hearing has changed, but thus far no indicator of such happening, so the Veritas has been very pleasing, especially considering costs.

Here is an oddity, I swapped my front Veritas 5.1s to the bedroom to replaced my B&W Rock Solid Monitors (I told you I was old) and they sound terrific with my old Pioneer receiver, better than they did with my Pioneer VSX 1021-K. I don't understand the difference but certainly appreciate the sound and looks of my system.

Thanks for posting. :D

I'll go with "the room is the difference". I know better, but still tend to forget that I cannot properly compare speakers from one room to another. In audio, the room and speakers are where "the rubber meets the road".

Maybe so, but I can't spend equal time in the bedroom listening to the Veritas 5.1s, but I was very surprised to hear them sound better in another room.:D
