Got mine unwrapped today and they look just like soccer kids'- I didn't get any port plugs, manual,or rubber foot thingies. Emailed them, haven't heard back yet. Sweet lookin speaks, haven't hooked em up yet. Thinking of running them with an emo ultra 10 , xda-1 and an old behringer A500 I have in my office that's approx. 1100 cubic ft. Should be more than enough get up and go in there

I did get an "rbh Signature Series Freestanding Speakers Owner's Manual" (which lists specs for several speakers which are not the E41-b)! This manual is very generic since it was written for 17 different models of rbh speakers.

I didn't get that stuff either, not that I'd use any of it. However, I did receive that same manual with the other set of RBH speakers which has no information on the beryllium series anyway.

So... are they worth $210?

YES. Like I said, I'm running them as mains and got to listen to them for a couple hours last night while doing other stuff and I love them. It doesn't that that they remind me of their big brothers either I'm sure. So maybe a little bias coming into play, but I absolutely love them already.

I didn't bring a subwoofer to this apartment so I am only running these little guys paired with some couch shakers. Definitely recommend getting some shakers if ya'll have forgiving partners . Worst case scenario, tell them that they can turn up a bass heavy song and use them as one of those chair massagers.

The specs on the site say 10.25". I'm at work so I don't have mine in front of me but I would guess taking the grille off only subtracts about half an inch. They're pretty thin and sit right up flush to the baffle.

I would throw a number out there between 9.5-10" as an estimate; assuming their spec number is with the grille.

Don't quote me on that approximation though

Right around 10.25 with grill. Right now I don't have the grill on but have banana plugs in the back and it comes to around 10. With bare wire and no grill you're looking at around 9.75ish (9.5 for the speaker and another quarter inch for the wire).

I was guessing around 0.5" or so for the grill, so I wasn't too far off.

Guess I need to do a mock up of these on my desk to be sure... I know I had the Cambridge S30 on there for a short time, and I thought they were a bit too deep... and if I recall, the cabinet was just over 9" deep...

Maybe I just need to get a bigger desk...

I guess I really didn't.

I just meant that I said I have them set up as mains. I only had them playing as background music while I cooked some dinner and sanded down a petoskey stone. I'll be sure to go home and crank them up a bit today after work.

Afterall, I do have a soccer game tonight that I need to get pumped up for! I joined an adult soccer league here where I'm interning. 14 or the 16 people on my team work for Dow Chemical. I'm one of the only two who don't. It's pretty fun, a little slower paced than I'm used to when playing for my college but still a good group of guys and a lot of fun!

Slight issue with a woofer in one of the speakers I bought. Seems to be making a slight flutter sound, not quite sure what it is. I took the driver out and it was still making the sound. Light pressure on the surround makes the sound go away, so it seems as if it's not glued down all the way maybe? I couldn't find a loose spot anywhere though. Any ideas from anyone?

Called RBH and spoke with Shane for a while. Very friendly help so far!

Anyway, if anyone's interested, here's a picture of the dirty insides of an RBH posing as an EMP!

I had also asked why they rebranded these from RBH to EMP. From what I understand, these small bookshelves weren't selling as an RBH product. Going from the typically (much) larger cabinets of other RBH products to these little guys, they just didn't sell.



Any idea what it could be? My first thoughts were something (a wire?) hitting the cone from the inside as it goes back and forth and that's why I took it apart. But it still made the sound when I played music with the driver sitting on the ground.

It's similar to the sound of taking a stack of paper and blowing on the ends of it to make the ruffling sound almost? That sort of buzzing.

That's what made me think the surround wasn't set all the way, or the cone wasn't glued all the way... Really not sure. One of their CS reps is supposed to call me today, I called them at 4:50 their time yesterday so he didn't have a chance to speak with me. Hopefully they have some spare Be drivers lying around and didn't sell out of all their spare parts too!

Just got off the phone with CS. The man I spoke to said it sounds like it could be something rubbing/being rubbed by the voice coil. Either way, he said he'll go find a driver and send it to me.


I also asked about buying a few to maybe save you a call. He said that they were really low on spare parts last he knew and might actually have to pull a driver from a set to replace mine. So most likely, buying any (extras) isn't quite an option.

Obviously, feel free to give them a call though. Just what I was told from the gentleman I spoke to.

Well it's great that you're going to get a replacement. Maybe I'll give them a call because if they have to pull one off of another pair then that's an extra woofer two tweeters, two crossovers and two cabinets that are now an incomplete set

Haha... Good point. I didn't think about it that way.....
