Emotiva 5 channel amp? or?

Ok I will be needing a 5 channel amp for my bedroom system, to go with the SVS MBS speakers and wondering how the Emotivas are for everyone.. I want nothing less then a 200wpc amp, I run my main system off my Rotel 1095, and I love it, works and sounds great, but will need another system setup. It will not be a 7.2 system ever... so only 5 channels will suffice.

I saw a local sale of a Rotel 1095 on Audiogon, thinking about it....
How much is that upcoming 5 channel Emotiva supposed to be, and when is it being released...?

I will probably go with another identical Pioneer receiver for a preamp, unless suggestions lead me in another direction. Lend my your thoughts guys... Oh and all my equipment will be in the basement hidden, so I will not be going downstairs to turn on all my amps, So I don't need a bunch of Behringer ideas here... heheheh :)

Although I am a EMO user and I do like it; I am uncertain I would be an early adopter of their new amp. I have had a couple of issue with the MPS1 and it has been around for a little time. Since you have the money, go with Rotel.

yeah, if the price is not that far to the HALO 51 ... I'd vote for that too! :)

Well I have to say, that as much as I have loved to look at the Parasound, or should I say drooled over.... the price on that bad boy is not something I was looking to dump on an amp... Much less do I think its worth all that...

and seeing as
The loudness - watts relation is logarithmic so twice as much power is only 3 db louder so 25% more power is only slightly louder.
So I"m not really so sure I really need that... but what I do know, is that these bookshelves are lacking in the sensitivity dept.. So I figured that I really didn't want to power them with the receiver that I will be using as a Pre-Pro...

Thanks Greg for the input on the Emotiva, I want something reliable but not too expensive and was wondering how that new amp was going to serve as a power supply... did anyone have a link for the new 5 channel Emotiva.. or at least some sort of published info... appreciate it... :)

Warp the new Emotiva is the XPA-5 and will be 200wpc cost $699 will be available early 08 and according to Lonnie:

"The XPA-5 and LPA-2 are based on the same amplifier design topology, but the big difference is the XPA-5 will have balanced inputs, higher current outputs and a power supply on steroids. "

There is a pic of it here: http://emotivalounge.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=amps&action=display&thread=1192051012&page=1

I got this info from the emotiva lounge. I do understand Gregs concerns and but they do seem to really care about their customers satisfaction and offer products that are great for the money.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the XPA-5 is going to be class AB and the LPA-2 is a class H.

Hmm don't know. I went through the entire post and those were the only comments like that from Lonnie. I looked though some other threads about comparing the IPS-1 and the XPA-5 but there were no comments from Lonnie or any other info about the class of the the amp.

Dave didn't you go to the Audioholics party? Did you pre-order this or the subs?

Rotel and reliability do not go hand-in-hand. One of my friends has had two Rotel amps crap out on him. Emotiva gives you the same power and sound for two-thirds the cost. I also doubt that Rotel's service will be anywhere close to Emotiva's.

I have an RMB1066 and RMB1077 with no problems.

could those units possibly be RB1080's? those are exceptions to the rule.

I also doubt that Rotel's service will be anywhere close to Emotiva's.
but Rotel is a B&M brand. I'm pretty sure my dealer will come to my house to service the unit and even install and uninstall it in case of a problem. they deliver too.

699 for EMO 200x5? I might give one a try for that price :) <- is this price correct? *even for 799, it's still a deal

Yes, yes and yes. I went to the party, heard the subs, saw the amp and it's price and I have both on pre-order. The class of the amp isn't of particular interest to me, like I'd be able to tell anyway. I think I made a mistake getting the small Rotel 1075 so I'd like to see if more power will help with the volume levels I prefer. I work in a foundry wearing earplugs 8hrs-7days/week. I think I might listen a bit louder than most from being somewhat desensitized to noise throughout the day. Whichever amp I don't end up using will make a nice gift for my son. Maybe.:D

I do love my Rotel, and it has been flawless thus far... but I bought it used, and if for some ungodly reason it took a dump, I would be paying out of pocket with no warrantee.

Question about the Emotiva... why would they backpaddle and stray away from their product lines by going to a A/B topology if everything they currently have is Class D... please correct me if Im wrong...

Thanks adk highlander for the link... and the info...

Looks like I will be saving my money and heading towards the Emotiva... For $700 instead of double... for sure... I will have to get in touch with them on the XPA-5.

To be honest, Greg had some issues with his amp... But IIRC that was partially a case issue, Greg chime in here with what had happened..

I am being very picky here which may not be fair. I would not of had an issue what so ever if the amp had the issue it did and EMO had of lived up to what they told me. I was told that my amp would have a 24 hour turn around time. If they could fix it; the old repaired module would be turned around and if they could not fix it, a new one would be out the door in 24 hours. I called and checked on it twice. The first time they said it would be repaired and sent out that day which was already at the 1 week mark. The second call which was 2.5 weeks out they said we dont know why it hasnt been sent out but we will ship it tomorrow. When I asked what happened to the 24 hour turn-around the only answer I got was "mmmm...I dont know why it took so long".

I am very easy to please and can pretty much go with the flow but I do take people for their word. I would have been more than happy with an answer such as "We made a mistake, sorry and we will send you a free T-shirt". Since I didnt get that, they probably lost the sale of a pre-pro to me in the future.

Greg, I would send an email to Dan Laufman (President) and tell him of your situation, they would rather make you happy and have you as a future customer.

My issue was a fried optical isolator on the amp module. When my module came back 3 week late the rail was bent and I should have returned it again. I shoved it back in the chassis half hoping it would fry the whole thing and catch my house on fire so I could own EMO but and it worked fine .

The other amps are class H. http://www.emotiva.com/ips1.html

Here is a pic from another thread. You can see the info sheet that it says class A/B.

You know the pretty blue light is cool you know. Seems like all Emotiva markets is the light. But where are the heat sinks? Heat sinks are a major component. Anyone have a picture of them?

And how is the Emotiva at producing stable power under any load? How about the transformer?
