think there is any way they will release the blue prints of these designs? half the fun for me is building the boxes myself. the reason i'm asknig is because my designing of ported boxes for ht is lacking....
Doubtful they would send you blueprints...
There are a couple of good forums to help you design some subs....

They are not all that complicated to build... just gathering up all the information is enough to wrap your head around...
You need to decide on a driver and what size box to go with, based on that driver with help from modeling software, and then go from there...
Start a thread in DIY here... and lets see what you would like to do...
Most popular are 15" drivers, but 18" have started to gather quite a following... but usually they are quite large...
Figure out what size driver you would like, and we can direct you to some good quality products... :)

There is a DIY section here, and AVS forum... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=155

Also Hometheater Shack http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-speakers-subwoofers/
Alot of people can help you figure something out within your budget...

It would outperform the Velo DD15 as well.
The Velo is a Servo sub with a built in software interface (SMS-1). It's one of the best musical subs ever created and if the rest of your rig justifies it, then you're going to give it serious consideration. Will the eD play louder, yeah below 30hz for sure, but it's not close to the Velo for features and finish, as well as, price. Please don't annoint eD for more than it really is. There are too many great subs out there that fit different applications. Don't get me wrong, I really like the eD guys and want them to succeed, but let's get real.

True Dat Ron...

I would bet that Servo will out do the eD sub for sure, maybe not in sheer output but in sound quality... Oh yeah... Hands Down..

It should sound better given it's huge pricetag though. I was just speaking in terms of output. I'm sure the DD might sound better for music.

price was irrelevant, especially the part where the eD "outperforms" the DD.

in terms of output though, is there 3rd party measurements on what the eD can do ground plane?

the eD is tuned to 20-22hz ... that also means output below 20hz, the sealed DD15 MIGHT have an advantage. again, "outperformed" doesn't belong in any sentence but with equally measured subwoofers.

have you heard the eD? have you heard the DD?

An update:

The amp blew. The protection circuit is now kicked in for good. Tried swapping the RCA cable with another known working cable. No dice. eD won't be back till tomorrow. Let you know how it goes. The original cable is fine as well.

One thing that I am not happy about: I posted on the eD forums that I had tried the above. Someone responds 'Did you try swapping out the cable' Hello, I just said I did.

Also they deleted my post. Thats very uncool.

Wow, just gave my opinion. Don't be so defensive. I have heard the a5-350 but have not heard the DD15. Was going by what I've read online.
So I could be wrong, but no need for the throat jumping.

so where online did you read that the A5-350 outperforms the DD15?

not defensive, but I just wonder why you gave your 'opinion' if there's no measurement or A/B comparison involved (subjective opinion would have been acceptable) or at least a reason stated on why one outperforms the other.

nevermind me.

Because not everyone is as technically inclined as some, yet like to give there opinion based just on what they believe through either reading, hearing some or all of the subs, or just their thoughts on the matter.
I didn't realize I had to buff up on my science before posting, my mistake.
It was a subjective opinion automatically when not backed up by any measurements.
If I could own either it would be the DD for at least looks.

but I am not technically inclined either.
I like giving my opinions as well, but I try to apply fairness to my opinions.
there's no science necessary, just a little searching the net.
i apologize for jumping on you.

I am curious though about what you read online.

Just the test thread on avs really and was subjectively thinking the DD-15 would be a certain % less than the DD-18. I was just giving my opinion and it was not intended to be biased.
I too was too defensive, I apologize.
Happy thumping everyone.
