This is probably a YMMV situation. Depends on the electronics at the source and the destination. If it looks good to you, then go with it, but as always, the shorter your cables can be, the better for quality and reliability. No signal gets *stronger* over distance.
With DVI to computer LCD displays, most manufacturers recommend staying under 20' and I've read that the displays will start to show un-subtle degradation in picture quality. But even the lowly 1280x1024 LCD attached to my *4 is working a higher data rate than most HD signals currently available. You'd have to go 1080p to exceed that. You may find that your current length is fine for now, but sometime in the future, you may have to add an in-line signal booster or shorten the run.
