I don't know what you mean particularly by choosing one or the other, unless it is a sound mode/upmixer on your avr rather than selecting soundtracks based on the codec they're using. It can be confusing as they share the same brand names. What avr do you have? I assume it has sound modes/mixers labeled Dolby PLIIx or Dolby Surround or DTS Neo:6 or Neo:X etc. and you're asking which you should use. The short answer is what you prefer. Both have their own dsp flavor and can upmix from 2.0 to surround modes....
