Hey audioholics,

With a lot of devices working best with multi channel inputs , ie the denon dvd playee 3910 having superior dacs then its receivers, dvd blu-ray in devices (although you have hdmi) , and pc multi chanel inputs.

Is there a way, since most receivers only have 1 multi channel input to get a mutli channel input without loss of quality that is switched?

I think I understand what you wrote. Monoprice has a fairly broad selection of input switches - both manual and remote operated. I have a 2 into 1 remote operated HDMI switch that works very well.

You're talking about switching 6 analog cables, right? I don't know of a manufacturer that does this, but I'm sure they're out there. I can only assume that the 3910 would have the best DACs in your rig, so why not run the rest of your sources digital to the receiver?

Concerning the Monoprice Component switcher, I e-mailed Monoprice to ask if it could be used as a 5.1 multichannel analog switcher. The answer was that some channels are interfered with and audio volume is reduced (go be caused by overloading).

In my case I'm waiting reception of a Zektor HDS4.1 from Zektor. This will handle 5.1 multichannel switching for both my HD-A1 and my forthcoming Panasonic DMP-BD10A to my Yamaha receiver. And it's already programmed in my Harmony 880 remote.

The Zektor HDS4.1 (http://www.zektor.com/hds41/index.html) can also switch SPDIF connections.

Didn't know that multi channel in could reduce performance as a switcher

Basically,

I have a PC that needs to use the multi channel inputs for eax and all those 24-but sound effects.

And then the denon dvd player having superior dacs and bass managment, etc then a denon receiver.

So, that leaves me with atleast 2 multi-channel inputs I would need. Who knows what will happen if denon builds a blu-ray player next year, however it will probably have all the freatures of lets say the 3930CI.

Does anybody know of one that doesn't reduce performance.?
