Hey I was just wondering if anyone has any experiance with Aperion Audio? My buddy is looking to get a set of there 533-T towers and 533-VAC center. Hes planing of powering them with a Yamaha HTR-5960. Any input on his set up would be apreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

Yeah, they seem REAL nice espically for the price. I wanted them for a while, but Im happy with my Cantons. Who knows though if he gets them and I like them enough, maybe an upgrade is in order.

They've got the best trial offer I've ever heard of-

Try them out for 30 days and they'll pay the shipping both ways. Hard to pass up a home audition.

I haven't heard them myself, but Gene has reviewed Aperion 522D-PT on this web site. Excellent build quality and bass extension do not make up for recessed mid-range, sibilant highs and narrow sweet spot, in my book.

AV123 now offers the same risk-free trial on their bookshelf speakers. I haven't heard the Aperion's, but I have read some good things.

Yes, I bought the 5.1 system using 532 bookshelves. Nice looking speakers, but I didn't like the sound at all. Sounded thin and harsh to me. My room acoustics are horrible, so that probably contributed to the problem. I have PSB Silver I towers now, and I'm much happier. Aperion does have excellent customer service and the return process was very simple. So, I wouldn't hesitate to try them out, if so inclined. I still don't have it sounding quite like I wan't, but I'm getting closer. I'm using a Yammie RX-V2500 receiver.

Ok well what else in that price range would you recomend (750 for the towers, 280 for the center) I see that Axiom M50 V2 towers are right there as far as price. How would they compare? Thanks again for all the advise so far, keep it up.

The Axioms would be better as would Ascend Acoustics. You can also check to see what package deals av123 has, as they change sale stuff regularly.

I have an all-Aperion setup, but use the 632 bookshelves + sub rather than the towers. I have the same center that you're looking at. I diasgree about the previous assessment with them being thin and harsh. Perhaps my larger speakers make up the difference, but I also tested the 532s I use for surrounds as front speakers. I thought at the time they seemed underpowered, but that may have been because they were fresh out of the box and I did absolutely no setup/calibration - just plugged them in to my new HTR-5990 and turned them on when I had everything sitting on my living room floor. I initially had the same reservation with the center channel (thought it was muddy). I normally like the dialogue boosted up nicely because years of drumming have taken a slight toll. My concerns with both the 532s and the center went away when I I got my HT put together and properly adjusted. I even like the in-ceilings I'm using. Aside from sound, you can't beat the build quality, customer service, return policy, etc. I think they are definitely above the curve on the bang-for-the-buck scale.

Cheers,

Kevin
