I agree with you about Disney. For the relocation, I had that in mind as well but where else is a state that already draws a large vacationing visitor clientele.

Would a threat to relocate, fire thousands of people, wake up the populus to get rid of this administration? Getting rid of the governor may not be enough.
I don't think relocation would ever be in the cards. It would have to be to a state with a similar climate. California already has Disneyland and the surrounding states all have Republican-run governments with similar mindsets to Florida's. And, can you imagine the cost of such a move?

Relocation, it will never happen. Regardless what happens between Disney and DeathSantis, Disney World is still making huge amounts of money.

Look, this all about control. The control to develop what Disney currently controls. Reedy Creek allows Disney to control growth and development around their parks, exactly what Disneyland didn't have. Like most Republicans in Florida including DeSantis are owned by development interests. Reedy Creek is prime real estate for development which ultimately leaves the tax payer holding the bag. At least with Disney in control, they pick up the tab for all services provided in the area.

Ron DeSantis was in UK and he did not impress business leaders there.

>>>…But Republican presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis failed to impress British business chiefs at a high-profile London event Friday, in a tired performance described variously as “horrendous,” “low-wattage” and “like the end of an overseas trip.”

For several of those present, however, the statesmanship was lacking.

One U.K. business figure said DeSantis “looked bored” and “stared at his feet” as he met with titans of British industry in an event co-hosted by Lloyd’s of London — the world’s largest insurance marketplace. …<<<

Disney pulls out of a roughly $1bn project. The timing is good as they could use the cash and the state of FL gave them a perfect excuse.

If Desantis was smart he would have went after Disney's Achilles' heal: Copyright and Trademark.

Disney + Fritz Hollings have done an incredible amount of damage and Steamboat Willie and early M.M. should have been in the public domain a long time ago.

I've no love for either of Disney or Desantis Anti-Woke grandstanding.

Isn't it Copyright and Trademark regulated by law at a federal level so DeSantis can't do much about it than just talk? With Disney in Florida he can take some actions to show he is doing something (however misguided) and have done so.

There is a researcher that wrote a paper on this and how Steamboat Willie and early M.M. could be attacked legally. Disney threatened legal action.

Against the researcher for writing a paper or DeSantis? Seems on the face of it abusive if Disney threatened legal action against the researcher.

It was against I believe a PhD student that was writing their dissertation about copy right with a focus on early Disney taking plenty from the public domain but fighting like heck to contributing back.

You talking about the 1998 copyright term extension some call the "Mickey Mouse Protection Act,” because it kept Mickey Mouse from going into the public domain for another 20 years.
