I kind of noticed it. I have a converter box, but some analog stations were off the air yesterday while others were still going last night when I checked. I hadn't been watching the analog stations for a month or two, so I was ready for it.
The CBS station did switch their second tower from analog to digital, so I picked up those - but I was already able to get them from the first tower, so no real change.

No cause the digfital switchover didn't get rid of crappy shows like Oprah and Jerry Springer, Maury or all those Judge shows.

I still think that over-the-air is going to beat Directv for quality. There aren't nearly as many channels, but what's there will probably look great.

I had my HDTV do a channel scan.
I'm just across the Hudson, in the shadow of NYC
CBS analog was showing instructions on how to to connect converter boxes. Most of the other major networks killed their analog transmissions.
I did notice a few new HD channels in some of the sub-channels. IOW, all the remaining digital channels for the major networks are on the "-1" channel but the ABC affiliate here had a different program in 720p on 7-2 as well.
Likewise, two UHF HD channels magically appeared.
Most of the foreign language analog stations are still broadcasting in both analog and digital, as they always have.
But we're not the ones who would get blitzed by this. The ones who will are the old grey hairs here who still use drum-style TV tuners. They grew old with seven analog channels and never asked more out of life.
Now they have been dragged, kicking and screaming, into the digital age. For them, I feel sorry. My mom was one of those who could never master remote controls and I went crazy maintaining her old TV until she dies in 2005.

No, but it is because I have cable tv. I have noticed, however, that some of the channels are coming in digitally with a much improved picture. Many are not being scrambled at this time which means I don't need their crappy DVR. The reason being, I do not record any tv programs. In the past, just used the DVR for better PQ. Then, I realized my 42" LG did a better job of doing that. As such, I sent the crappy DVR back. Why pay for something that does not really do anything other than record? Guess, I am saving $10-$15 dollars a month. In this economy, every little bit helps.

(CNN) -- Phones at help centers across the country rang Saturday, a day after broadcasters halted the transmission of analog signals long depended on by many people without cable or satellite television.
It said 317,450 calls had been handled on Friday alone by the commission's help line, 1-888-CALL-FCC.
