Did you do anything interesting on Christmas Day?

I did! I took advantage of the balmy winter weather in Minnesota and rotated my tires. Front to back, back to front. If I had my druthers like with a hoist, I'd cross back to front, front straight back. But this'll do! Lifted one side at a time with a floor jack and a 12 volt scissor jack. Torqued lugs to spec afterwards.

We celebrated family Christmas 2 weekends ago. Today, it is watching some football on his/hers TVs, Netflix movies, or other App movies or Series. It is 38 degrees right now, where we live in WI.

I hear you with tire rotation. I take mine to Discount Tire, with a hoist. Freebee. Perhaps their air guns, apply the right amount of torque? Over the years, I never asked. 80-100 lbs

Time to heat up some turkey breast with gravy, and heat up the cheesy potatoes. Wife made yesterday.

Speaking of cooking... I am making a beautiful rib eye for dinner and the Vikings game. It is 2.5" thick. Just amazing. Plus amazing marbling. This would for sure be a $100 steak at Manny's. I sear it in a super hot 8" cast iron pan, all 6 sides. And then I place said pan directly into a pre-heated toaster oven at 400 degrees, watching the temp with my bluetooth Meater probe. I will flip it in a minute or two. Anyway, it always turns out primo! Question though: Do you guys sear a side that has all fat on it. I do. But wondering what you guys do.

Nothing but a nice wet lazy day here. Watching the Chiefs/Broncos but started to snooze during halftime :)

These days with a good steak I'll sous vide it then sear it on the grill outside if it's dry, or in a nice heavy skillet on the stove. I'll sear all surfaces, fat or no but I'll do the fat side first to help the pan out a bit :)

ps What cut of steak is it? These days $100 at the store can easily be achieved :) Is Manny's the killer local steakhouse?

Went to the Nuggets game. I swear they intentionally tried to raise my bp by nearly choking in the 4th, but it was another Jokic masterclass and a win.

I don't watch the NBA, but I root for Minnesota teams. Any stand-out performances with the Timberwolves?

I usually buy ribeyes. I go to Costco and if I can afford it, I get $200 to $250 of Prime cuts. These most recent ones are truly amazing, thick cuts. I have a buddy that gets a rack and cuts his own. I haven't done that yet, but I probably should since you get a better $$ per lb.
I did that too yesterday, searing the fat edge first. There was no trimmable fat on it though.
Yes, Manny's is a top steakhouse located in Downtown Minneapolis. I believe it is considered a top ten in the nation steakhouse. The Minnesota Vikings brass has wined and dined top-flight free agents there.

Ant was great overall, almost singlehandedly pulled off a victory late in the game, sent it to overtime, and pushed the wolves lead to 9 early in overtime. I expected the Nugs to fold at that point. Anthony Edwards is one of my favorite non Nug players in the league to keep an eye on, he's really good.

My wife and I cooked for 18 on Christmas day. Classic English Christmas feast. I spit roasted a Turkey outside and barbecued the sausages. There were roast potatoes and Brussel sprouts and my gravy made from scratch from one of my own turkey stocks. There was trifle, steamed Christmas pudding, minced pies and a selection of English Cheeses. As usual my wife had made and decorated the Christmas cake and a selection of Christmas cookies.

Everyone had a great time and the children and especially the grand Children did the washing up.

I am glad to say that everything was fine, and no culinary disasters. How much longer we can keep this up is open to debate.

Sounds like a great Christmas dinner!
