The amp Ive read will do 500w x5 at 4 ohms when bridged.

Well, I think 150 wpc x10 @ 8 ohms unbridged is more than enough. Bridging may cause distortion.

Wow, they look practically identical, except for the 2 extra channels of amps, XLR inputs, weight, & dimensions.

If the THD on the pre-pros is 0.005%, but the THD on the amp is 0.05%, doesn't that mean the COMBINED THD is also 0.05%, which is also identical to the AVR?

An extra Teroidal transformer?

Holy cow not much to compare! If it where me I would choose the 5308 as my pre amp along with the 10 channel power amp and save $1800.00. Then again whats $1800.00 when money doesn't matter.

What is so good about balanced outputs?

It's cool to have, but practically all Emotiva products have them. It is so common these days.

The amp alone is twice the weight of the receiver.

I hope for $7000 that they are going to give more detailed specs. From what they published so far, nothing seems to standout that puts it over the rest of the crowd.

I see from the back that it has the ability to use balanced inputs which is a good thing.

3dB- how about dual differential DACs on all channels. 24-bit/192 kHz ADCs for all analog inputs (never seen this on any piece of equipment). Building blocks use ALL discrete circuitry. Massive power supply. The amp can be bridged; 300 watts into 8 ohms; 500 watts into 4 ohms.

These units would be priced much higher if the nameplate said Theta or Meridian. Bring it on Gene; hope you have a pair of units for test.

Just add the new $2K Denon DVD3800-BD player and you got something there.

AcuDefTechGuy- you mean the DVD2500BD transport for $1K. The prepro takes care of the other $1K. Now we can have enough $$$ for left, right and LFE subs which the new prepro can handle.

Most high end amps can be bridged and are made of discrete components. Thats nothing special. Still take a Bryston amp over that Denon any day.

The dual diff DACs on the pre-amps... now thats different.

Modular Design

One last thing; for $7K it would have been nice if the prepro was a modular design like the Theta Casablanca and Meridian 800 series. That way it would be future proof, hopefully, in firmware AND hardware.
