It is worth adding that 'Zone 2 playback by speaker output', as shown above, should NOT be used. You will not be using the speaker outputs of the Denon to run your zone 2, you will be using the RCA outputs. So, make sure to put your settings back where they were so your rear speakers playback normally when in use.
Do be aware that no digital audio (HDMI, coaxial, toslink) will pass to zone 2. But, you can use the internal tuner, or any analog audio source for zone 2 playback, like a CD player, connected using the RCA connections on the back of the receiver.
If you need your manual, download the 'CD ROM' file from Denon's website. It has the full guide in it and page 92 features the Zone 2 setup and instructions.

Per page 115, leave the 'amp assign' for your speakers to 'SURROUND BACK', as that's what you want the internal amplifier of the Denon to handle.
For what it is worth, I went through the ENTIRE manual, and it does not show making any connections and how to properly operate zone 2 using the RCA outputs whatsoever. So, you know, good luck Mr. Customer. (Thanks Denon!) So, yes, you should have no issues using the RCA outputs, you DO need an external amplifier for zone 2 when you don't have any extra channels leftover on the main unit.
