Denon AV-3805 Sound Loss from some Sky Channels

We have had the AV-3805 for 18 months and had not problems but suddenly there is no sound from Sky movie channels. All other channels are fine and if we connect direct from Sky to tv with a scart lead we get non surround sound. The Sky is connected with an optical audio lead to the AV3805 and the correct input is selected in the digital set up. I do not understand why some channels work fine. Is it possible its Sky or can it be the lead? This did happen once before and we called Sky out. He got the sound working but by attaching the scart lead from Sky to tv and not through the amp. We were just relieved to get the sound back and did not realised until he had gone that we were not going through the amp and so did not have surround sound. I changed the optical lead to a different socket and re assigned it in set up and it worked again but this time changing inputs makes no difference. Any ideas. I'm a novice with audio equipment and suspect I'm missing something obvious but it makes no sense to me that some channels work and others do not.
