Denon 4310CI & 3310CI

Hello friends,

It's been a very long time since I last posted on this forum. I own the Oppo Blue Ray player and it will allow me to play SACD in multichannel format via DSD over HDMI as long as the AVR is equipped to do so. I called Denon re: the 4310 and 3310 models and they did not know. They need time to research an answer for me. Does anyone else know? If not what other brands are you aware of that pass DSD over HDMI?

It is hard to believe Denon cannot answer you question. The 3310 does not offer SACD HDMI support but the 4310 does. The 4310 also has DL4 but that only works with Denon players that support DL3 or DL4. By the way, the 4310 also support HDCD decoding. The 4310 is the new and improved 3808.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Denon has forwarded my question to a supervisor now and told me I should expect a formal answer next week.

Does any one else know of a brand that has an AVR able to take multi channel sacd and run them from my Oppo via DSD over HDMI? What about integra AVR's? My listening and viewing wall is 96" long. We will be sitting anywhere from 12' to 18' away.

I love it when I play DSD SACDs on my Oppo and my Denon has the "DSD-Direct" lighted up on the LCD screen.

I would think that all of the higher end models of Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, Integra, Sony, Pionner can do DSD over HDMI. Your best bet is to pick your favorite model and then verify their SACD/HDMI capability by downloading and reading the manual.
