Denon 4308ci - newbie help

Hi all, I am new on the forum and know I will likely be raked over the coals for this post, but am hoping I may find a good response or two that will help me out.

I have had a 4308ci for around a year now and honestly haven't figured it out. The user manual doesn't seem to give the descriptive info an uninformed user needs to determine how to best set it up. I have been searching this site and know the information must be here somewhere but have been unsuccessful in finding it.

Can someone please let me know if there is thread for optimal setup options such as using the MultiEQ, functions in general, trouble shooting, tips and tricks etc? I would even appreciate links to other sites that may contain this info.

Thank-you for your patience!

What functions and/or setting are you looking at specifically. Denon familiar users on this forum will be able to help you rather easily but we need to know the specifics of what you are trying to set-up, configure, or adjust....

Choppin Guy, thank-you for your response.

I have my receiver up and running and have performed the automated speaker setup using the mic. Sound is definetly good but I would like to understand the tweaks and functions available within this expensive piece of technology so that I can maximize it's performance; which I currently doubt I'm doing. I don't even know which sound formats are the best to use (i.e. dts, dolby, etc).

I am running some older paradigm speaks (9seMK3 fronts, CC-450 center, psb 400s in the rear and psb subsonic ii sub). I am planning on purchasing their signature series S6 or S8's in the near future and slowly upgrading the remaining speakers, but figured I should know how to unleash the power in this receiver before continuing to spend additional money.

I know I haven't specifically answered your question, and thought that if I could fine a source of information such as a thread on this specific receiver that I could educate myself without bothering others.

Here's another quick point that you might find funny. I bought a MX-3000 universal remote about a year ago and it's sitting collecting dust on my coffee table because I haven't taken the time to have it programmed!!! Yes I need a lot of help! *laugh*

MultiEQ setup I think would be a great start for setup tips if there aren't any other obvious ones.

I think the first step is making certain you have the latest firmware update.

From there make sure you understand Audessy and how to properly set it up. The link below is on Onkyo but most things apply tO Denon.

You do understand to go back into the set up menu after the auto cal and set speakers to small and check the crossover setting?

Perfect this is a great start. Thank-you for your advice. I'll start here, and no I wasn't aware I had to tweak after the fact. Very new at this and just getting up to speed now.

Cheers and thank-you for taking the time to respond.

Any other input others may have is still very welcomed.

Great tip on updating the firmware. I haven't updated it since I received the receiver around a year ago. It has a major update that is taking around 75 minutes to download.

Thanks.

I think that's the one that makes it smoke and quit working....:D;)
