Denon 2910 Problem

I have a Denon 2910 multidisk player that is not playing disks of any format more than about 30 seconds into the track. I can advance to other tracks on any disk, and I still get the same result.It starts over on any selected track after the 30 second or so interval.
The warrant is expired. I bought it refurbished about a year and a half ago from an authorized Denon dealer.
If any body has any troubleshooting/repair suggestions, please let me know?
I have a lot of experience with auto controls and electronics repair and a BS degree in Industrial Electronics. So, if someone has experience with this type of problem, would you be kind and point me in the right direction?

Update!
I cleaned the lazer to no avail- it was not dirty.
Just for GP after the lazer cleaning did not remedy the problem, I removed and then replaced all ribbon connectors etc.
The 2910 is now working properly.
Hopefully, it was just a bad connection.
If the problem occurs again, I will suspect a cold solder.
For now I'm relieved!
I have a Pioneer 578A as a backup unit, but even though it is a decent unit for the price, It does not touch the 2910 in audio or video playback.

It's fixed. It turned out to be a ribbon cable connection. I found it through pure luck. I found that as I depressed the Super Audio CD Setup Button on the front of the deck and kept it depressed the unit played back fine. If I released the said button the problem returned. I then removed the top of cover of the deck and closely examined the ribbon cables. I discovered one of the ribbon cables slightly canted. Upon removing it, I noticed one edge slightly distorted. I straigtened it and reinstalled it. It was no longer slightly canted. The deck now works correctly. The connection probably built up some corresive resistance over time because of improper seating.

Thanks Surveyor for describing the faults and actions you took to rectify the problem. I have a 3910 so if it ever plays up with similar symptoms I'll know where to start.

I hope it helps others.
Even a Denon at around $700.00 is worth trying to fix.
The Denon decks are much better for especially audio playback. If your other stuff speakers, amps etc are of equal quality.

The best kind of help is...self help

Some would have gotten upset with the language that sometimes slipped out of me, as I was working through the problem. At least I did not have to break out the solder iron on those hard to see connections!
