Denon 220o playback problems

Hi, I just bought a new DVD and there are some serious problems with the video part. In moving horizontal images like a car or person moving the head, the images are not smooth but go like a fast slow motion with stop-and-go. In Lang Lang's Dragon Songs from Deutsche Grammophon, for example, this is very clear. I've tried everything. I tried with another DVD player I have from Sony and everything works fine. I even used a low budget LG DVD and this does not happen. There is a problem with the video section.

I think I am starting to understand as is happenning. It happens only (up to now) with the Deutsche Grammophon DVDs that I have (Lang Lang - Dragon Songs, Lang Lang - Live at Carnegie Hall and La Traviata witk Rolando Villazón and Anna Netrebko. And it happens with the three of them. I saw that all of them were recorded in High Definition. Can this be a problem for this player due to the upscaller or any other electroncis that the other players don't have ? I don't have any other DVDs recorded in High Definition so I cannot do further tests like these with other brands. I even used DVD Shrink in Dragon Songs at the same happens with the compressed image. It's like a Fast Slow Motion when cars or people are moving.

I live in Region 2. Does any one have an idea of why this is happening ?

Not sure if this is your problem, but I had a similar issue when I first got my 2200. I found out that the 2200 converts 24-fps Film based material(I think NTSC) to 60-fps even if you select the PAL output. My PAL only tv at the time couldn't handle this 60-fps so it would skip every a few frames every second. IIRC this only happened to region 1 NTSC DVD's. The way I fixed this was to get a Multi format TV(NTSC/PAL) and set the player's output to MULTI

cheers:)

That was precisely the problem. I had my DVD in PAL mode (of course) and the recording was in NTSC. Thank you very much for your help. I was starting to be desperate.

If and when you come to Lisbon or Madrid i'll pay you a beer.
