Definitive Technology bp-8040st vs SVS prime towers.

Hey everyone,

I was pretty much set on the SVS prime towers as the reviews point to them being a great value for what they cost. Then I came across the bp-8040st that are on sale for $399. My question is how do the two compair? If I went with SVS I would add a sub to it down the line to help handle the bass. From what I have read the bp don't really need a sub to help. Just want to know if I should get the bp since it's on sale or go with the prime. Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe you can order the svs and see how it sounds in your home? Chances are you'll be more than happy with it, but if not, can always return them back within 45-day trial period!

I can now get the def tech 8060st, cs8060hd center and A60 atmos speakers for the same price as just the svs towers and center. Hmmm.. what to do.

So far we don't know your criteria apart from the budget - if you provide details like room size, listening preferences (movies, music), aesthetical preferences, and anything else, we can recommend better systems than maybe just the svs and DefTech you are comparing. Since you also talk about adding a subwoofer, it is better to specify space constraints too. Many times, bookshelves with a quality subwoofer provide much better sound quality than tower mains and a subwoofer.

With experience I can tell you the other factors are equally important, along with the price, since an ht system is a long term investment for most.

And yes, DefTech or svs, a quality subwoofer will certainly enhance the overall experience.
