I can comment a little from experience, but rather long ago . . .

When we put together our first (shoestring budget) surround system back in 1995 (back before all this wonderful online sharing!), the Circuit City salesman talked me into a set of rather huge DCM floorstanders for my fronts along with a decent Kenwood receiver. Got home, hooked the system up, dropped in a digital recording of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (the "theme" to "2001" if you're not familiar with Strauss), and watched my receiver power off with the first kettle drum strike. Tried it again . . . same thing; and again . . .

Called CCity . . . turned out these DCM's were ungodly power-hungry 4ohm optimal drivers! With that big bass smack, the amps were going into protective mode and shutting the receiver down!

Animated discussion with manager . . . he decides to give me a deal on my now-recently-departed Onkyo 525, which he's sure will drive the beasts.

 NOT.

Same scenario, nice Onkyo, same outcome. This time discussion a bit more animated . . . CCity phone service refers me to district manager who cuts me a very nice deal on the set of Infinity SS 3-ways that are still running with our front room system.

Needless to say, the DCM's had no place being in a consumer electronics store . . . they obviously needed serious dedicated amp power, which made zero sense with a budget floorstander. Needless to say, the DCM's disappeared from CCity soon after that . . . I must say, I for one would be quite wary of their quality control . . .

I dont feel alone anymore! Just like you photo i was talked in to the large dcm floors by a guy at CC over the infinity floors. I bought a mid range onkyo reciever with them and got it home set it up but in a cd cranked it up and soon as the bass it click.. everything would power off. Messed with it for awhile tried it again.. same outcome. after sending the reciever to service 4 times! i finally gave up. Hooked them up to an old HK 2 channel reciever and it worked for about 6 months and blew out the power supply! Im on reciever number 3 on the system.. got a pioneer 1015 for 100 bucks new in box :D and it seems to have a little more power to handle these beasts. I've had them hooked up for about 6 months with no problems at all. Im actually considering buying there ft6 for rears and ft6c for a center to match it all up. I almost sold them to go with the boston vr3's or a deftec 7002's, but for the price there not bad speakers at all. Cranking music on them they seem to sound better the louder they get. I'm prolly gonna go with a deftec supercube for a sub with my current set up.. will give up dates. oh yea, blew out the mid in 1 once and walked in to CC and they gave me a new speaker. can;t beat the 10 year warrenty! Reason CC pushed them so much over other speakers was due to the fact that CC invested ALOT of money in DCM as a company and i think paid for there new plant to keep up demand. CC does that alot.. hence DIVX?? lol

As you can see on my sig, my rears are TimeFrame 400's (6 ohms nominal, but currently running them @ 8). I'm also using their monitor series bookshelves in the bedroom. Great speakers. Just stay away from the power hungry ones!
