I have a question i'd like to ask, what is 5.1 ,6.1, and 7.1 formats for an ht set-up i wanna buy a nice ht set-up in the near future and i was wondering what this setup idea of mine is., front mains/center/rears/wall surrounds and finally a good sub, now is that a 5.1, 6.1, or a 7.1 set-up also i'm probably going to go with seperates since iv'e been reading that seperates give the best sound for music and movies. thanx for any info you guys can give me

5.1 is 2 front(main) speakers with a center, and 2 surrounds (located at the back of the room)
6.1 adds a rear surround directly behind the listening position, between the surrounds.
7.1 adds a second rear surround speaker to give a bit more separation in the rear.

At this point in time there are no true 7.1 recordings out there so 6.1 is adequate. but if you have the room and the budget go for the 7.1 set-up.

so the set-up i was talking about with front mains, center, 2 pairs of surrounds 1 pair for the rears and 1 pair for the walls and sub is basically a 7.1 set-up?
