Speaking of cat nip, you cat lovers ever give them a wrapped piece of peppermint (any mint probably works, though) gum? My kitty growing up hardly ever got catnip, but my parents would allow me to give her that, and she loved that. She would roll all over the gum and bite down on it. I'd take it away and give her a new piece once she broke through the wrapper.
