Seriously, I have no life.
I love that the people that get offended are usually not the group the supposed slight was meant for. Not one black person I know refers to themselves or anyone else as african american. I can just see my friend's eyes roll when someone says that to him.

My wife's family is mexican according to them. They don't care about being called Latino at all, but they don't use it.

And boy are we getting tons of Californians here. Tons.

(White person)- "Oh, you're not offended by that? Here, let me do it for you".

No the X is to remove the patriarchal aspect. It's the same as Berkely California banning the word 'manhole' and other gendered pronouns. Latino was determined by some white liberal people to be 'oppressive' to Latinos and meant to 'free' them from this 'oppression'.
Berkeley actually or perhaps better, Berserkeley :). Lived there for a bit, my parents met there while going to UCB. Probably no real deep meaning to latinx no matter what, tho.
