I would like to add that by reading some of Dr Sherry A. Rogers' books, I found that the last frank atrial fibrillation episode which I had about 3 years ago, was caused by a low potassium count. As a matter of fact, she clearly specified what she suggested that I take to cure that problem, and by following her recommendations, I am convinced that the situation is now on complete control.
My cardiologist preferred prescribing medicine instead of recommending a natural approach to resolve the problem. Of course, as he is controlled by Big Pharma, he cannot prescribe natural supplements because they cannot be patented for pharmaceutical production! I recently stopped taking the beta blocker I was prescribed as I was getting vein insufficiency as a side effect and an occasional too low blood pressure. Today, I am not taking any medication and I feel better.

At least that is in her field, environmental. Yet she seems to get involved outside her field. Why should anyone take her seriously? Writing books outside her field with no real journal papers in any of those other fields to support her opinion?

No. All the info she wrote in her books is well documented with the sources at the end of each chapter. She isn't a quack.

Well, when she goes after statins and other well known conditions, blood pressure, detoxing, what is one to think, that she is the only one to know?

right, not a quack, just renowned.

She's not the only one to know about the statin scam. You don't know why she does not recommend statins? In her book entitled "Is your Cardiologist Killing You?", she states that cholesterol is not the vilain, merely the messenger. She adds that statins are the most dangerous drugs ever made. You don't poison the liver's ability to make cholesterol and get away with it, at least not alive. To make it short, you must have cholesterol to make your hormones, like testosterone for libido, thyroid for energy and weight control, and adrenal stress hormone.Cholesterol is needed not only by all your glands, but all your glands are needed to keep you from a heart attack. Without continual repair and replenishment, you get disease and die. She mentions that statins decrease coenzyme Q10 which can cause congestive heart failure. Statins lower your zinc and deplete vitamin E. Her info is well documented with sources in the book.

Moreover, the main situation is that those expensive statins bring money to the Big Pharma industry around the globe. In the 1980's, the cardiologist associations decreased the upper limit of normal total cholesterol from 240 to below 200, what for? To sell more statins and make more money! Those statins involve profits in the billions of dollars annually. Most cardiologists are also on payroll of those pharmaceutical firms. Those facts have been reported in several books and by several doctors including one in Montreal of whom I have a book relating to them. Money rules!

Of course, there are other measures to improve the lipid profile, including reducing refined carbohydrate and sugar consumption for starters. Niacin, vitamin B3, is one of the effective products for instance.

Received my flu and COVID-19 jabs this afternoon. One of my co-workers got his last week and they knocked him on his ass. But then, he is about five years older than me and not the picture of health.

Anyway, in anticipation of possibly feeling crappy, as soon as I arrived home, I went out for a 7.5k run. If I don't feel well tomorrow, I won't feel guilty for laying around all day.

Now, I'm rewarding myself:

I am to receive my new Covid-19 jab on November 28. As for the flu shot, I don't need it as the last time I caught this influenza, it was more than 50 years ago. My immune system is adequate. I have been taking food supplements for 40 years and they have protected me. Vitamins A, C and E, as well as Zinc and the middle-chain fatty acid coconut oil have been helping me.

Well, it's entirely up to you, but to say you don't need a flu shot because you don't get the flu is like saying you don't need to wear a seat belt because you don't have car accidents. I haven't had the flu in...I don't know long it's been....several decades. But, I still get the shot.

You don't get the flu possibly because you get the flu vaccine every year. In my case, the food supplements do the job which they are designed to do: protecting me from the upper respiratory diseases. Cure is in the food and food supplements we can consume.

You are certainly much more vulnerable to the flu than you were 50 years ago. And once you past about 60 years old, your immune system lost considerable ability to fight off infections or to prevent serious illness.

That is your fondly held belief. But you simply cannot provide convincing scientific evidence to support your claims about food supplements. When tested in humans as well as lab animals, these food supplements, alone or in combination, do not prevent flu infections or reduce the flu symptoms.

We all know that attitudes, beliefs, and expectations can profoundly affect what we perceive to be true. But that does not make it a fact. I really do get that. After all, AH is an audio forum based on that principle.

Why should I worry about the cold or the flu when i have been without them for over 40 years ? It looks like what I have been consuming in food and food supplements all that time work for me.
Doctors who practice functional medicine know damn well that vitamins, minerals and other food supplements apart from good non processed food prevent and cure diseases. You believe what you want. I'm convinced that I'm doing right with the experience I've had. There are exceptions and I'm one of them!

I would like to add that I'm 84 and I don't at present need any prescribed medication. Whenever possible, I stay away from the pill pushers.

You should worry because of your age. 40 years ago you were 44 years old. What may have worked well for you in the past may not work well now.

Yes, I'm well aware how convinced you think you are. But your age is a factor that you cannot ignore.

A factor that needs to be taken into account is that I don't go out much. I usually eat at the restaurant only once every two weeks. I don't go to places where the room will be crammed full of people. I rarely take the subway train to go to downtown Montreal. As a matter of fact, I had a haircut downtown Thursday, and I'll be taking it only in February for my next cut.
Also, when I cross someone in a store for instance, who coughs or sneezes, I always interrupt my breathing. So my risk of catching the flu are practically null. The flu is not that easy to catch, but the new variants of Covid-19 are. End of discussion.
