Since the back of your rack is open you may try a clip-on type fan like this --
http://www.amazon.com/Air-King-6-Inch-2-Speed-9145/dp/B0007Q3RRU
and direct it onto the hot spots.

I wouldn't use the fan you linked to (or similar ones) unless you enclose the back (as recommended above) and then you for sure want it pulling the hot air out. If you don't enclose it the fan would just be recirculating a lot of the air -- like Swerd, strube and Nemo said earlier. Then you'll also want to seal around where your cables enter/exit the back somewhat to help preserve the airflow from the front.

Crap, I threw away the back cover.

I guess I could build one, what do I need...some wood and a saw?????

1/8" Masonite is your friend.

That is probably what your back cover was made of anyway. They could probably cut you a piece that is the size you need at your local lumber yard/home despot/lowes. Then you could use a drill and a small saw to notch out places for your cables and your new fan plate - or if you know someone with a router you can get real fancy.

Forgive me if someone already said this, but I just skimmed through this thread.

The amp is not going to cause the air to get hotter than it is. If the amp is cool, then it's not the issue.

My theory is that the PS3 is getting warmer because you've put it in a smaller space. If I remember correctly, you raised the shelf to accomodate the Rotel, which would reduce the space around the PS3.

So, if the amp really is cool, I'd focus your cooling efforts on the top shelf where the PS3 is located.

Wow, I never thought of that, but it does! :D

I have already designed what you need in my brain! I might draw it up in solidworks and post the pic for you, since its not like I have a partial differential equations take-home exam that I have to do...

On second thought, I should probably do the exam first...

A partial differential equation? I could probably sell you something to fix that.

Speaking of that, what do you sell, if you don't mind my asking? I don't feel like searching all of the threads.

So if you find the center channel you are searching for (my dealer has one BTW, but it has been a display/demo model for a while), why don't you move the Rotel to where you currently have your center, so it can be showcased front-and-center and it can achieve maximum effectiveness when people bask in its glory. Then you won't have a space issue anymore, except for a potentially gaping hole where the Rotel currently is. Then all of this cooling nonsense will be a non-issue as well...

Medical Sales or according to my boss....nothing:eek:

How much would your dealer let that 690 go for?

That center space is for more sub amps!

I gave my dealer a call but they are closing up so he is going to give me a call in the morning. I can always buy it and ship it on down if you so desire. He sounds motivated to sell it, but who knows. Ever since they got bought out a couple of years ago, they haven't been quite the same (they started selling Verizon phones for God's sake!)...

Lets change this up a little.

I paid $19.37 for this. Will my plan work and is it a good idea?
Sorry if I missed something  but where did the $70 price tag become $19?

I'm curious because I'm looking at the possibility of compacting my system which would bring the space above my receiver from 5-1/2" down to 3".

They look like really good cables for the money. Are you happy with them?
Some day I hope to make the money that you guys have, the day that I can spend $100 on 10 ft of f**king speaker wire and be happy about it, I will be one happy sob...

Thanks for the offer but if you buy it, we run into warranty issues and if you ship it, damage will be on you and me. If we work a deal, we will have the dealer ship directly to me. Find out cost to ship it to 76126 plus assure condition of the speaker.
