Honestly, I like to list anything that sounds good through my speakers. Classical to (some) country, to hip hop to classic rock to modern rock to top 40 to jazz to blues hahahaha
How? I guess through my computer?
Initially I was thinking only audio but video would be cool as well. I looked at chrome cast and is this something that has access to a bunch of free video content at good quality? Or do you have to buy additional subscriptions to whatever you want to watch? Same with audio.... you pay the 45 bucks and you have access to endless audio?
The reason why I like the cambridge is because of the ease of access..... I don't know anything about HTPC or anything else you mentioned but I'll look it up. I am sure I'll have questions lol
Chrome Cast essentially gives you access to anything, although if the site has a Chrome Cast app then you can stream straight to the Chrome caster.
The device does not determine whether it is free or not. If there is a subscription for what you want to watch then you have to subscribe, no matter what you watch or listen on.
Now a lot of devices like ROKU have built in apps, but if it is subscription you have to subscribe.
Chrome casting in a sense turns every computer, phone or tablet into an HTPC for video and audio streaming.
However a dedicated computer like this expands the horizons.
This device which I did build gives me access to pretty much anything I want and fast. I use a radio key board from my chair. It also allows for downloading, playing and recording discs.
Since I now do a lot of streaming I find this by far the easiest way to access what I want and quickly. For some time it has been my most used peripheral by far.
With a VPN set up I can have my IP address be in any country I want.
For me this project was easily worth it, for others it might not be.
For me a pricey unit that would just get audio stream would not be worth it.
