Component to Reciever or Plasma

Here is what I have
Panisonic 50" 7U
Denon 3805
HTPC
Direct TV HD Tivo
DVD (maybe in the Future)

My question is should I hook up the peripheral Component outs (HTPC, Direct TV, maybe a DVD Player) to the Reciever Input and then send the signal to the Plasma or should I run them all to the plasma.

I would prefer to only run one component wire to the plasma just because I have to snake them thru the wall up to it. Is there any dis advantage in doing this? I'm not familiar with running it this way so i assume you change everything via the Reciever vs. the TV.

I also don't have the TV yet so I'm not quite sure what hookups it has back there (I know you can change it out but that's more money)

Thanks guys I appreciate the insight.

Definitely run everything through the receiver. It's a high-quality unit so it won't degrade the signal. That way you gain the convenience of video switching, as well as only having to run 1 cable to the TV. Use your receiver to the max, you paid a hefty sum for it!

I agree, thats just a lot less wires you have to worry about hiding behind that flat panel tv. I just started using a receiver with video switching and I have to say that it is well worth it, so much more convenient than always changing the input on the tv

I'd run as much as I could through the 3805...it's a great reccy that will "upsample" composite and S video inputs to the component out. The instances where I would run straight to the TV are those wherein you've got a DVI or HDMI output from a digital source (satellite or DVD player) that you'll be running to your HDTV for better picture: the 3805 doesn't permit that with the setup I have.

Bryan...works *great* on my old VCR and tapes...
