comment on these subs

In terms of filling the space adequately they will do a better job. The sound quality will be very close as room modes/nodes will be more controlled having multiple woofers. This will tend to mask any superiority from the single sub system.
Win. 1 High quality sub will sound like trash if cancellation isn't addressed. I would opt for the dual HSU's, simply because they're ported, and more efficient.

If you get it right. Integrating multiple subs into a system is not that easy. Proper placement is essential.
Opposing corners. Middle of side walls. Generally the best spots (for a rectangular room at least).

The only way to make this work right is to have a computer program model your room, and give accurate placements.

Annunaki, I see your from Kaukauna. I went to Sound World in Appleton and the salesman said try the 12" phase technology sub. He said That might be okay if not I can return within 7 days, but he said if not enough he would recommend 2 twelves over getting a 15". I haven't heard anything good or bad about the phase tech subs. They were played with the floor v10's and v6 center and sounded good, but it was in a small room. There website says they carry hsu so I want to go back and check them out as well.
They do not do much if anything with HSU anymore. They had a lot of reliability issues with them. Bob, the manager, is a great guy to work with. Some of the guys there still believe in the snake oil cables, but they are usually pretty decent people. The Phase Tech products are pretty decent too. They are usually a very good value when compared to similar products on the market. I would check those out a bit more perhaps. Where are you at? Send me a PM.

One does not have to go that far. Sure it is nice for absolute best results, but there are easier ways that yield 90%-95% of the results of getting a room computer modeled. It does, after all, come down to user preference. :p

Here is a freeware downloadable program for placement for him.

the Room EQ Wizard free software will help a lot in finding the best position for multiple subwoofers

do you guys remember that thread we had about the "dumming down of audio"? I talked about how snobby audiophiles are...? this is exhibit A. You guys were a little rough on this guy. Having said that mr. lbolts20 they are correct though, HSU, SVS make far better subs than you can get at any big box store. I have an HSU vtf2 mk3 $552 shipped. Peoples jaws drop during Transformers and I-Robot. There is a LOT of wisdom here, but it can be like drinking from a cactus, be careful!

I found out the local audio store doesn't sell HSU which is a bummer because I was hoping to listen to it. I am planning on going there in the next couple days to listen to the rest of their brands.

I was out of town today and stopped at a store and listened to some paradigm dsp3100, dsp3200, and dsp3400 they had in a room a little smaller than mine but not by that much. Just so you can get an idea of what I am looking for the dsp3400 is overkill for me. I know some of you will read this and laugh. The dsp3100 wouldn't be enough. The dsp3200 I think would more than meet my needs. Based on that how do you think the dsp3200 compares with the subs mentioned or are there others that would be comparable or better for less money? The dsp3200 was $699 and that is stretching what I would like to spend. Quite a few listed were at that price or below, but don't know if x is about the same and $200 less or x is $100 less and extremely better etc.

Thanks for all the help so far. I really appreciate it.
