Congrats - that sounds like an awesome system. I've had my eye on that Classe and $1500 is an excellent price. I've heard it with the B&W 805 D3 and it was outstanding - I am sure it is a fantastic partner for your Focals (which are awesome in their own right). The Sigma has just about as many features as a top-of-the-line AV receiver (I am sure won't use but 30% of its capabilities) including bass management.Hi guys-I am new to setting up stereo equipment, so I am hoping for some advice. I just purchased a pair of Focal 1028be, a Classe Sigma 2200i integrated amp, and a REL T7i subwoofer. The gentleman who sold me the Classe and the REL told me not to hook the REL subwoofer to the sub out, but instead, use one of the speaker outputs. I watched REL's video regarding this. I have attached a schematic of the back of my Classe. Sorry to be dense, but if I attach the REL to one of the speaker outlets, how the heck am I supposed to connect the pair of Focals I have?
I have also heard many REL subs and they are very well designed for what they do - for music only systems the T series is outstanding. Your salesperson is probably used to using the REL in a certain way (high level) and that's fine. I would experiment to see what sounds best to you (and it is cheap to do). First, hook up the REL to your Classe using speaker wire (@ski2xblack was correct - running speaker wire to speakers and sub from the amps binding post won't hurt anything) and adjust the sub to your liking via its volume and crossover controls. Then run it from the sub out on your Classe with an interconnect and let the Sigma do the processing and control. See (hear) which one sounds better to you and run with it.
Good luck and report back promptly!
