They're viewed as a bunch of hicks who did country gag albums but they were highly sought out after studio musicians in Nashville in the 50's & 60's. Their comedy albums came about as a way to supplement their session work income with RCA Nashville Records. Jethro Burns was one of the best mandolin players in our century who jammed constantly with Chet Atkins, who was also his brother-in-law.
