any thoughts on the announcements from HD-DVD (new intermediate player coming out) or Blu-Ray (LG's new combo player that seems to lean towards BD format over HD-DVD)?

only stuff out there is from people taking things way too personal on both sides. would kind of like an unbiased view on the topic so far and thought i'd turn to you guys.

what about DTS-HD and DolbyHD on receivers? Is that even necessary or does the processing happen at the HD-DVD and Blu-ray players? Any new info on lossless digital audio would be reading material for me.

And about the new direction of audioholics, I would donate to that cause and hopefully would be able to take a tour of the Skymall house someday!

Could you ask Pioneer what their stance is on their minuscule dvd player line up?

Excellent. What I need to know is if the OSD (on screen volume in particular) will overlay over an HD signal? Not just blank out the screen and display a gui, but does their new unit support an on screen volume control over the top of an 720p or 1080i/p input signal?

If not, are there are any receivers out this year that will?

Unless I'm missing something, not only does the Sherwood website have NOTHING on their new products, their "what's new" page still has things on it from 2005 CES! They need to get their latest products on their webpage if they expect people to go there for info.

The specs on the Sherwood look very promising, doesn't seem too expensive either for all that new technology (atleast my initial impression was "I'd pay 1500 for something like that").
