any universal DVD-A/SACD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray player with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding/output through HDMI v1.3
There is nothing preventing a couple of manufacturers from adding Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, and HDMI 1.3 in the future to universal players. But I bet there is little desire for companiesto do that, as both DVD-A and SACD are dying formats (and I own a Pioneer 59avi and Denon 2910). Heck, Sony's Blu Ray player isn't even supporting SACD. That speaks volumes.
The handwriting on the wall is fairly plain---If you want a choice of players with both Dolby TRueHD, DTS-HD, and HDMI 1.3 you are mainly going to find them in the 2nd and third generation Hi-Def players. Why will audio software providers want to make SACD or DVD-A's with TrueHD when that market has shown to be self-limiting, if not a dead end? If Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD takes off in audio, it will undoubtedly be on both HD and Blu Ray compatible discs.
I just hope the downloaders haven't won completely with their lossy downloads. I would think that there will be companies that will eventually provide high quality audio on one disk with Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, along with high quality 2-channel for audio playback. There is plenty of space on both HD and Blu Ray for this. This fact alone will undoubtedly speak the doom of sacd and dvd-a. When the providers can put all the formats they want on one HD or Blu Ray disk, why **** around with lower storage dvd-a and sacd disks to a self-limiting market.
That said--I feel your pain!
