I just passed 5000 miles on my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek.. Probably the last car I will ever own. And I'm happy with it. :)

For all out performance, yes.

For performance and panache, Cadillac. Think 'Blackwing' ..... ;)
No difference in reliable from Chevy to Olds to Buick?

When you said platform did you mean same engine/components amongst the brands?

Anyone use Turtle Wax Ice spray? I used to use paste wax religiously every 6 months or so but since I drive so little, and my car is garage kept the spray seems to work fine. I use it after washing every 2 to 3 months and the cars finish sparkles.

Was trying to remember what my old neighbor mechanic use to own. I think it was the 90s Buick Roadmaster. (The wagon version with wood paneling looks terrible.)

in shared platforms / drivetrains, not really.....

When you said platform did you mean same engine/components amongst the brands?
yes, more or less. GM went to 'corporate motor / drive trains' in the previous century in many of it's vehicle configurations.

One of the most bizarre features ever with the headlight wipers. My ma owned a 90s Saab with that on there. As if you didn't already guess, it didn't do a damn thing.

Also my ma had an 80s Honda Accord with some amazing rust if I remember right. It was in no time and the lower doors had holes in them and whatnot. This pic feels about right with the luggage carrier on back.

Does using a one grade up in oil weight say 5w30 to 10w30 a bad idea?

Also does Quaker State/Pennzoil use a wax in their oils that bogs down performance? Ever heard anything along those lines? My experience years ago was when I stopped using Pennzoil the car's acceleration improved.

Per a quick search....

No, not all car oils have wax in them, although some naturally occurring waxes might be present in conventional oil due to the refining process, particularly in the base oil; however, most modern car oils, especially synthetic oils, are formulated to remove most of these waxes to achieve better performance and consistency, and additional waxes are not typically added as part of the additive package.

Quaker State synthetic is on sale so might try that. I'm mostly a oil is oil person and it's really about changing it regularly.

If your vehicle manufacturer used the 5W30 oil for it, there's a specific reason. Switching to a thicker oil is not a good idea IMO.

I have been following the Motor Oil Geek about the specific qualities of Pennzoil Oils. I've been using the Ultra Platinum 0w20 in my 2019 Civic since last April and I noticed that the motor seems to run slightly quieter than with the previous synthetic Honda Oil used. Like the Platinum Oil, it is a synthetic oil made from natural gas rather than the usual crude oil.

I suggest that you watch several of this motor oil geek videos. This guy is a real expert in oil analysis and is definitely worth following:

And GM sold a Caddy Cimarron back in the early 80s.Basically a rebadged Chevy Cavalier, Bad idea for GM's luxury brand.
