Does using a one grade up in oil weight say 5w30 to 10w30 a bad idea?
Also does Quaker State/Pennzoil use a wax in their oils that bogs down performance? Ever heard anything along those lines? My experience years ago was when I stopped using Pennzoil the car's acceleration improved.
Per a quick search....
No, not all car oils have wax in them, although some naturally occurring waxes might be present in conventional oil due to the refining process, particularly in the base oil; however, most modern car oils, especially synthetic oils, are formulated to remove most of these waxes to achieve better performance and consistency, and additional waxes are not typically added as part of the additive package.
Quaker State synthetic is on sale so might try that. I'm mostly a oil is oil person and it's really about changing it regularly.
