I got resolutions

Well, It takes too long to get to the simple resolution... but it has been the ways for newbie like me...

I used Yamaha auto test, which always reduce the sub level. That causes the problem. I don't follow the optimizing rules of the Auto test anymore. I boost the sub level to 5-7 db more and now I get the basss.

Other solution is to pass by the bass management of the receiver. I can do this by not using coxial sub cable output. I will need wire parralelly the front speakers to the "High Input Level" of the sub and use it's cross over control

Happy Thanks Giving again.

I may have missed it so this may be a redundant question. Have you tried using the test tones in the receiver and your SPL meter to volume match your speakers (pgs. 58,61)? Many, including myself, set the sub level at 0dB in the receiver and adjust the sub’s gain to the desired SPL.

BTW, “pure direct” does not allow any signal to the sub. Pg 37 Notes

What happens if you set the X-over in the receiver to 40Hz? This should allow the M60s to produce the frequencies above 40Hz.

2nd sub and the cornner

I bought 2nd sub on Amazone. This one is for sell for $99. I know the $99 sub cannot compare to my Axiom EP500, but I just give a try. Here is the story:

I put the Advent sub in the corner and hook up the my system. I turn off the Axiom just to see how new sub perform. The sound is magically better. My friend told me that the colcation where to put the sub may make the different. So I put the Axiom sub into the cornner and turn it on, [of course I turn off the Advent sub], and now I experience better bass from Axiom sub.

I found out that when the sub driver faces to the wall, I get best performance: the bass is more extended and deep.

I decided to keep the Advent sub and will setup my system with two sub. I am waiting for Y RCA cable spliter and sub cable delivered. I bought them from Part Express...

alpharetta, Using the Rives test CD2, the analog SPL meter and some sort of inexpensive graphic EQ is an affordable way to help get your sub-woofers response tamed. Beyond that, you will need to move on to some sort of RTA and a PEQ, and there are many options for that. I am currently using the Behringer DEQ 24/96 with the ECM 8000 mic. Look at the link for an affordable EQ to go with your meter and test cd. It is the replacement model to the one I used in that article. Good luck.

RTA and a PEQ

Thanks Jeff and Happy Holidays to everybody,

Sorry for my ignorance, but
What is different between RTA and PEQ? If I have both of them, how they should setup with the system?

Appreciate if you could give me some short answers or give me some links about this topic.

Thanks

Happy Holidays again.
