Cadence XSUB for Home Theatre Ok?

I thought the X-sub was good above about 30Hz (we didn't get to run numbers on Ron's). With the bass boost turned down, it had good output and sounded good with music. Not as defined as I would like, but when you consider price, it was doing a great job. The amp is actually the most impressive thing about this sub, and I'd guess looking at the components, is probably about 60% of the total cost of the unit (if not more). The weak point being the driver.

I forgot to bring the polyfil that I have to try to stuff this guy a little bit when we put it back together to see if it would help any, because I think this guy would benefit from it (maybe 30% fill?). We tried stuffing the port also, and it actually made very little difference, which kind of surprised me.

Don't disagree with anything you've said. When I say 80%, I didn't qualify it. I have in other posts. The 20%, IMO is the additional extention, clarity, output that easily justifies the additional expense. It's the subjective WOW factor that says real quality. If I rate the Cadence as 8 on a 10 scale of subs under $500 it means that it will do many of it's functions very well. I'd put the PB10 as a 10 on the same scale, in fact I'd set the scale based on the PB10 because I think it's a monster.

I guess it's how you define performance.
Word.

If anyone's interested I've convince cyberbri from AVS to bring down his H100 and compare it to the XSub. We'll do some tones, though I know the H100 is fairly flat into the mid 20s. It will primarily be a subjective comparison, just some quick tones, then demo material. We'll post the results. It looks like the 11th is the day.

Hey Ron,

I'm sure a lot of people will thank you guys for doing that. Those two subs seem to be the Choices in that price range. I'll be curious too to see how the H100 compares to the X-Sub. :)

Me too, which is why I'll be there :D Not sure if my sub will be attending, but I'll be there with test material.

It fits in the car (barely, with no passenger), but that isn't the problem - getting it down the stairs is
