Well, while it's closer to $500 with shipping, the SVS PB-10ISD is the least expensive option I've seen that will give you good, powerful, and subsonic bass.

Will this 10" driver be enough for me 2500 cu ft room?

Hmm....I'm not sure about that. If you're feeling amitious, you can always build your own sub and get even more performance for the dollar.

Im not afraid to build one. I'm no yankee carpenter though. I would need a pre-fab cabinet. And I wouldn't want to be without a sub for a long period of time. Did you have anything in mind?

Yeah, I looked at that. 12" kit is $536.

Is this really the best sub I can get for $500?

No no. Pick a woofer, amp, and box.

Bob(Khellandros66) just did one, and it turned out really well. He used the dayton reference woofer (294 464) with the 500 watt bash amp and one of the cabinets.

Well I dont know enough to choose a driver. Any suggestions? Something in the 12 to 15" range.

Heh ... for that matter ... I dont know what to look for when choosing a cabinet either.

Bah, just get a PB-10. Bobs sub was 500 shipped, but he had to build it. It doesn't have the low end of the PB-10.

It really isn't that difficult to build a sub, I'm not even out of high school and built my own for about $320. I used the Dayton 15" DVC woofer and a 250w plate amp. But the box is huge, that's a compromise.

Do you think the pb10 would cut it in a 2500 sq ft room?
No, IMHO it won't if you like gut wrenching HT bass. That's a very large room. I would either save my pennies and opt for the SVS PB-12 NSD ($599) or NSD/V $699), or the 15" Titanic kit shipped for $688 (if you don't want to mess with cutting into boxes, etc...

Sure, it's more than your original budget, but look at it this way. If you bought the SVS PB-10, It would run you close to $500 shipped. If you can afford that, save a bit longer and get a real sub (real sub for your size room - no offense PB-10 owners) ;) .

How did the Cadence do filling that room? What was it missing? What did you like about it?

It seemed to fill the room nicely. It did a god sub of mixing with my Axioms and not standing out. I would have liked it to go lower though.
