Buzzing at Very high Volume

Hello,

I am a total first-timer with this stuff. I just bought a very nice middle-to-high-end Yamaha reciever. I have pair of Smallish Jamo speakers and decent cables throughout. With my DVD palyer ans reciever on, if I pause the DVD and crank up the volume, waaaaay up, I start to get a wicked hum. It is not noticible at regular listening levels, but I suspect any buzzing is bad buzzing. Is that right? Is there anything I can do about it?

Does this only happen when pausing the DVD? Is the DVD connected to a tv/monitor at the time? If so, does the buzzing change if the monitor is on or off?

I wouldn't worry about it if you don't hear it at normal listening levels. Nearly all receivers will have some sort of hum once cranked way up.

As polkfan essentially stated, you are amplifying the noise in the compoennts. It happens when you amplify it so much. I bet you would not listen to music or a movie for any time at that level, so it is an unrealistic condition you want an answer to.

It's like saying I can hear my blood rushing through my body in an anechoic chamber. So what. I don't hear it in the real world :D
