Just a little DYI with a 15" AXIS. This one's sealed but I have the plans (WmAx) to go ported if I have have the need.

receiver to DCX2496

I manually turn on each item. Takes all of 5 seconds....

How do you go from the yamaha receiver to the DCX2496? Based on your advice, I plan on incorporating the 2496 into my system but wonder if I should use a simple cable converter or a "box" converter (since the 2496 only accepts balanced inputs)?

Fortunately, the DCX2496 has an ultra-clean gain stage up front - designed to take low voltage consumer unbalanced or pro level voltage balanced signals. Just use an RCA to XLR adapter to feed the DCX. At worst, you could end up with a ground loop, in which case you could use a passive ground lift device like an ART DTI box or similar. But a ground loop hum is a rare thing to occur in this circumstance.
