Boxing in-walls plus insulation, etc.

I'm thinking of going in-walls in my great room for my back surrounds as well as in-walls across the board in my master bedroom.

This is about my master bedroom. I was considering lining the cavity with egg crate foam before I installed a few 6.5" in-walls for my fronts and surrounds.

I came across this during a routine Amazon search. Has anyone tried these or tested them?

BTW, for old construction, what do you guys generally put in to box across the tops of in-walls?

You can cut a piece of wood and slide it into position, then use Great Stuff to hold it in place. Get the fast setting kind and if you want, use shims to hold it in place while the foam or caulk sets. If you put a couple of screws into the surface that will be inside of the "box", you'll be able to position it up or down. You'll need to bevel the ends, or you won't be able to turn it.

If I'm doing a rough-in, I'll just cut pieces of 2x4 and nail or screw them in place.
