TLS Guy Seriously, I have no life. Feb 23, 2014 #43 You have bought some nice gear! Cat remains one of those really great American Companies. Our old firm Pardix founded by my father after WW II pioneered the back hoe in the London construction scene in the fifties, with the world's first hydraulic back hoe, which was the Whitlock Dinkum Digger. I knew J. C. Bamford. Pardix were one of his first customers and had a strong relationship with JCB, being the first to trial his new machines as a rule. The firm had over sixty JCB machines in operation in the hey day, along with Cats, and International machines.

I truly struggled with this one, I have friends that run cat and friends that run deer, and they both love what they have... I knew going in american company was important, but what is all american now? All of these companies are global... What ended up swaying me towards CAT is the back hoe, that was the most important piece for me {I wasn't even in the market for a new skid steer, I just needed a back hoe and mini X}, and I tested the JD and the CAT and I like the CATS level pickup system better than the deers, the deer seemed easier to just jump in and use, but if you have ever ran machines, you know no matter how hard or easy it is you are a pro in 1 8 hour shift, and there will only be 2 people running this machine... And the cat is in no way hard, my 14 year old son would do it with ease... The CS at cat was just the icing on the cake, I know they are salesman, and the after sales support is soon to be seen but when you deal with a salesman/rep that has been with the company for 20 years {younger guy too} you know when you have an issue you call him and let him deal with parts or service, thats worth something, he gave me his home phone number incase he doesn't answer his cell {he said he has bad service at his house} thats impressive... So while JD is an awesome company makes great stuff {I like their mini x's better} the cat it system and the cs made the decision for me, but it wasnt a real ez one to make..
