fellow #1 I still haven't heard from. I emailed his work email, which is of Harvard, and maybe he's on some break (he's not a student though). I have his other email somewhere, but Id have to dig thru too many for the moment.

fellow #2 replied, and this is what he says"

"Unfortunately, it seems his setup is going to involve some constraints that are beyond my league. When integrating speakers within pillars, I cannot say what the effects would be. I think he could get some really great ideas by crossposting in this forum:

The regulars in the above link are very enthusiastic and he might find enough information by lurking in that forum for a little bit.

I've only had experience with "dealing with" rooms that are already completed and optimizing it from there. He has risers in the planning/building stages and pillars and other things that are more commonplace in the dedicated theater design forum.

He mentioned that he is unsure of speakers, unfortunately that too requires him to put personal time into it. (and also depends on how he will implement the speakers (in-wall vs. within the room). His fun is just beginning..."

sorry, I couldn't help you more so far, but maybe its a little start for you! Its a good link for sure.

Guys, Thank you all for the replies. You are awesome. Thank you.

I had a buddy in last night. A real smart guy. Not an audiophile like you all but knowledgeable. He gave me what I think is very good advice. I'd like your collective opinions:
I told him how much trouble I was having with the audio part of my set up and with my room size issue the speaker placement (columns). He said I shouldn't go over the top on an audio system because:
1: I am looking to fill a small room with sound (220 sq ft). Buying a "big" system might be overkill
2: I have a bad ear for the stuff. No experience. And buying an expensive system might not be worth it.
3: Buy a real good receiver and sub and be ready to upgrade in the future should I decide to.
4: Be wary of putting speakers in columns as it could distort the sound quality. Go for small yet impressive performing speakers.

Thought?

Thanks Audio hombres

I'm not sure what overboard is just yet.

A buddy at my office told me he liked orb's. Good quality, small and economical.

I tried to find the frequency responce of those babies and guess what....

I don't remember those being listed in "Reccomended Systems".:) Seriously, go to your friends place and listen to his orbs. Doing any amount of reading on this site would steer you away from them. I could be wrong.:)
