Bose Wave Music system

I just joined the Audiophile community and been hearing lots of nice reviews on the Bose Wave Music system - like it is made in the USA, good quality, great for classical music, jazz, etc. Not too concerned about deep bass since it sounds like distortion to me - at least what I have heard so far, and from very expensive subwoofers. I have a Denon 3805 and great Klipsch speakers...but sad to say, I am still unsatisfied about the sound - looking mostly to hear crisp clean sound at low to normal volume (75dbs). I am willing to try the Bose system to see if it is good to my ears - at least they offer a 30-day no-questions-asked trial (they wouldn't offer that if they don't believe in their products, at least that is what I think). Once I get the system, I will see how a CD sounds at the same volume compared to my system. We shall soon see.

The Bose Wave Radio or the boombox thing they call the Wave System are just super expensive clock radios. I'd buy one if they were $75 because they do look cool.

I can already tell you how it sounds. My dad has one. It doesn't stack up to what you can get for the same money, but it also does put out quite a bit of sound for its size. You would be hard pressed to put together a better sounding system for the SIZE, but for the money, you can do MUCH better.

j_garcia hit it spot on. My mom has one, and it does produce decent sound given the size, it's really not that great when the price is taken into account.

Perhaps...

Maybe you guys are correct..but I say what do I have loose if they have such a generous return policy - If this doesn't work out, perhaps you can recommend a system that does not use too much power and sounds crystal clear at low volume.

I was planning to upgrade to Velodyne DD-15 later this summer (mostly for Home Theatre use and not for listening to music) but I am considering the SVS PB12 ultra as well - It is made in the USA and has great reviews.

I would wait for the new 13" Ultra coming out from SVS before I purchased the old Ultra.

If you needed a sub today I would recommend the SVS Plus because the Plus's new drivers are every bit as good, as the old Ultra drivers. ANd you save some cash. :D

...for the record, I happen to own a Waveradio, won it in a retailers promotional raffle...And yes, it's pricey but it has a reasonbly small footprint and sounds good, however you have to position it properly to balance out the highs and lows...follow the mfrs. placement guidelines and experiment from there...I have a port CDP connected to the "auxl" inputs and it's quite satisfying for bedroom/spare room use...

If you can still find one, I'd recommend a look at the Onkyo MC35TECH mini-system...a 15Wpc reciever, a 3-disc CDP and two decent bass-reflex loudspeakers...it's cheaper than the Bose and is a bit more flexible...They also have a newer unit that plays DVDs although I've never heard it...

My dad actually bought the changer add-on so you can play multiple discs. It works surprisingly well. (Did I just say that about Bose?)

...if you take time to notice, I got it free...and I suggested the OP look at an Onkyo...

BTW I also have B*I*C, Pioneer, Onkyo, TEAC, TASCAM, Phillips, Stanton, BSR/Heathkit, Shure, Lafayette, Audio-technica, SAE, Audio Control, Sound Concepts, Marantz, STAX, Sennheiser, SONY, Koss, JVC and H/K Citation...Oh, and my GPX port CDP ($7after rebate)...

I have a Wave radio as well which i inherited. I use it as a bedside clock radio, and for that it is better than most of the competition, but most of the competition is <$50. It's not worth the $500 they charge for the CD version, I could consider it competitive with the other higher end tabletop radios in the $100-200 range but for $500 it's a downright joke.

Crystal clear quality isn't its strong point, it's midbass rich and lacks some high frequency detail and the bass it does produce is boomy and distorted, but again for what it is, it's the best I've owned and I've enjoyed using it.

That said, I wouldn't recommend one. Your Denon + Klipsch are technically better, but perhaps you should audition some different speakers.
