Does anybody out there know how to compress a bluray disc to an .mkv file so it will fit on a dvd dual layer disc at 720p
thx
thx
Well if you don't live in a cave you would know that they make boxes that allow you to transfer content from a cpu to a high def tv..... As far as the compression goes I have watched three mkv transfers and they blow standard dvds out of the water..so how could you comment on the quality of an mkv disc vs sd if you havent viewed one ????....I wouldnt waste my time if their wasnt a significant difference over sd or commenting on something I am not familiar with. Why would you bother doing that anyway? With that much compression, you might as well just make a 1:1 copy of the SD DVD. And you couldn't watch it on a regular dvd player anyway unless it was transcoded, which is another reason not to even bother with it.
going around, like theft? It's obvious he wants to be able to watch the movie on his computer.
And if he ever needs to back up his transcode, he can simply burn it to a DVD9. Have you watched the Transformers 720p rip going around? At roughly 6 GB (~5500 kb/s video rate), it looks phenominal on my computer monitor.
Yeah, and in case you missed my sig, you would see that I have a HTPC, and it's hooked up to my tv, and I have viewed blu ray rips on it.Well if you don't live in a cave you would know that they make boxes that allow you to transfer content from a cpu to a high def tv..... and I really don't care, im not going to buy a dvd I already bought in sd to have the high def version....I paid my dues by purchasing a huge amount of dvds and refuse to give cold cash away when I can easily beat the system at a fraction of the cost. I wish more av rats would do the same and force these bastards who charge twenty dollars for a nickel disc to cut prices on sd discs. Anyway this is dedicated to all the compulsive nerds who run out and buy the anniversary additons/limited additions of **** they already have(which there is a market for??)....and if you can't live without a dts track well then wait it out and buy the second release !!:going around, like theft?

I didn't realize there was a way to do it all in 1 step. Are you aware of software where you can go directly from a Blu-Ray to an MKV file with audio? You can either re-encode it to a raw .264 video stream and then mux to .mkv or do it all in one step.
